A real, live poker room!

Some friends and I took a road trip last week to Bossier, LA to go to the casinoes. It was my first time to see a real, live poker room. My husband bought in for a few bucks and promptly got his a$$ handed to him (but frankly, I do that on a regular basis anyway...lol). I chose not to play since I was drinking and tired and partying with my friends. Probably a good decision, that. Made a few bucks on slots (go figure!) and blackjack, and the hubby even left with more than he came with, so it was all cool.

My mother, an elderly and sedate woman, wants me to go out there with her soon. I think I'll give the old poker room a go then, since Mom and I won't be painting the town red and all...lol.

I just did this last week. I lost 100 bucks at the table in less than an hour. Bill Hallorian gave me the best advice which I wish I had thought of before I went. If you sit down with enough chips to cover the swings then you are in no rush. The blinds aren't rising like in a tournament, there's no reason to get involved in questionable pots. Take your time and wait for the right set of cards and position. You might walk away with more than you had or you might just not lose as much as I did. Good luck.

I agree Four Dogs. I think I might do well, because I'm a REALLY patient player. I don't mind waiting for decent cards or folding when I think they have me beat.
