Question - spread?

Can someone explain to me what a $1 - $4 - $4 - $8 spread hold 'em game would be? I'd guess it's a $1 blind, $4 bets on the flop and turn, and an $8 bet on the river, but would like clarification.

I've wondered that myself. We see this game around Reno.

Some say a good player has a bit more of an advantage at it than Limit Holdem. I'd like to learn.

Oh, interesting. Thanks for the link. It looks like what's listed on that page as progressive limit hold 'em, with the "spread" part being the flexible amount of the first bet.
