The question about kickers

How does they works?
I mean ive seen a lot of situation when my kickers doesnt works

Example:
i have A8 and my opponent has A5 and its A on the table; finally we all have A pair and divide bank between us

So what called "kicker" ? any card after T?

There are hands where your kicker won't be in play. For instance a board like

A-4-4-K-5

Where you have AQ and your opponent has A2. You will split the pot, since you both create the best 5-card hand: A-A-4-4-K.

The reason a split pot will occur in the event you have a higher kicker than your opponent is because the board has a higher card then either you and your opponent. For instance

You have A8

Your opponent has A4

The board is A K 10 10 9

You both have 2 pair, but your 8 is not part of your 5 card hand because the K is a higher card, so you both take the K to make your 5 card hand

In my example you had AQ, meaning that your kicker is a Q, but you still split the pot. The size of the kicker only matters if it makes you a better five-card hand than the other guy. There's nothing special about kickers that are higher than tens.

hope that definition is ok but if not refering to your a8 and your opponents a5 the a on the board made u both one pair , this didnt decide the winner so u both use the next 3 highest cards ,from your hand and/or the board, the highest 3 cards is the winner . in your case there must have been 3 cards on the board higher than 8 so u tied and split the pot.

the board=5 community cards in the center of the table,i just added this in case.i dont know if u know the terminology or not

As an aside unless you're playing short-handed hands like A8 will be liable to get you into trouble, not so much because of the split pots as the dominated hands where you play against a better AX hand - AT and lower really needs to be played with great caution because they're prime examples of hands which will often either win a small pot (when you pair your ace and nobody else has one), or you will lose a big one (when both you and an opponent pair your ace and you have a worse kicker card).

Pretty simple concept. It is only the best 5 cards that play. If you have A8 and your foe has A5, and the board comes AKQ92. You both had AAKQ9 and therefore split the pot. If it came AKQ72. You would have AAKQ8 your foe would have AAKQ7 and you would win the pot. Does that help???
