I LOVE playing the Sunday Million, don't get to play it enough. I actually bought in once straight up but it's out of my BR management range so I don't expect I'll do it again soon. I will play sattelites and shootouts to try and get in though, I've managed to get into the Sunday Million several times and have cashed in that tourney about 5 times. From 300 to I think around 1400.

What's difficult about this tournament is the blind structure and the amount of players you have to contend with. 20 minute blinds means you have to catch cards and flops against good players, you can read some player styles and play the player but more often than not this is a card dependant tournament.

Card dependancy isn't total, I'm just stressing that it's a larger factor than usual for a tournament. Good players = using all your skills, cards, position and tactics/strategy.

There are indeed many CC players good enough for the Sunday Million, but of course staying within bankroll management is very important. With 3 to 6 thousand players even the pro's are hard pressed to get to the final table. The Sunday Million is kind of like a mini WSOP every week, it takes luck and skill, with 20 minute blinds luck is a huge factor, if it's meant to be it will happen, if not then enjoy the ride, it's a great game.

Had a feeling that was the case. Not sure I could swing it, but some here could, judging by OPR results. The prices are sweet, think ill put it on my "try that" list

Won entry 3X to it through satellites. Played the first time, bombed out. Took the entry fee the other two times and used them in tourneys that I knew I could win easier.

I am trying the double shootouts to get in this week. They run every half hour so it should not be hard to find one that fits your time table. They can last 3 hours so be prepared. You can have a long wait to start the second table (I waited 35 min for the last table to finish to start the final table last time).

35 mins? That was a quick one. I was on the first round heads up and my match took me 3 hours to play.

yikes. My first table took 50 min. I won because the other guy got bored and started to play stupid. I can't imagine 3 hrs for the first table.

So be prepared for 3-5 hours per DS. LOL

^^^^^Per Pokerstars:

SHOOTOUTS

A shootout is a special kind of multi-table tournament. Normally, when you play in a multi-table tournament, players are moved from table to table to balance the number of players at each table. Eventually, the fortunate last nine players end up at the "final table". In a shootout, no such table balancing is done. You are stuck at your original table until only one player is left standing. If you win that table, you advance to another table and repeat the process against players who each won their first table. In a DOUBLE SHOOTOUT, you need to win two tables to win the event, although often there is some money for everybody who makes the second table. In a TRIPLE SHOOTOUT, you must win three tables to win the entire event (again, there may well be some prize money distributed along the way).
Note that this whole process could be extended to quadruple shootouts and on up. Also, the tables don't necessarily have to start at nine players each. For instance, for the 2004 *WSOP, we ran triple shootouts with four-player tables (a total of 64 players in each event).

If you are a SnG player the short handed tables are a piece of cake.

re: PS Sunday Million poker

I've played in it 3 times. The last time last sundays. I've cashed twice, once for $1000 and once for $700. Twice I won my way in and once I bought in.

I think in the last one I was once bad beat (AK vs KQ, Q on flop) and one lost race away from finishing even higher.

I actually like the structure. You can be very patient in the begining with 10,000 starting chips but in the middle late stages the blinds get very high in relation to chip stacks and luck becomes more of a factor.
