Thank you for your email and for allowing us to be of assistance.

Today we encountered a problem with the PokerStars game server.

If you were in a tournament at the time of the downage and did
not complete the tournament, please e-mail us with the subject line:

"REFUND: Txxxxxx, $a+b buy-in, USERID"

...where "xxxxxx" is the Tournament ID, "a+b" is the buy-in of the
tournament (for example, $20+2), and "USERID" is your PokerStars User
ID.

We apologize for this outage, which is a very rare occurrence here on
PokerStars. We are working diligently to solve the problem.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as well as your business.

Regards,

Angelica
PokerStars Support Team

You can claim your refund now since you have to send an e-mail to them. You don't need the site to be back up.

I exchanged dialog with them ... here's their response:

Today we encountered a problem with the PokerStars site and are in the
process of restarting our servers.

If you were in a tournament at the time of the outage then we will be
cancelling the tournaments. These tournaments will be cancelled in
accordance with our Tournament Cancellation Policy which can be found
here:

Poker Tournament Cancellations - Rules and Policies

Any players who were in a tournament will receive an automated email
with a full breakdown of the refund issued, after the site comes back
up.

If you were involved in a cash game then your chips may still be
allocated at the table(s) you were playing at. You can locate the
tables by using the Requests -> Find a Player feature, and searching
for your own UserID.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident which I
assure you is a very rare occurrence on PokerStars.

lol I think I came right after the restart, because there were literally like 5 200nl FR tables. Thought maybe poker was drying up after all, because although there usually aren't many juicy tables this time a day there usually are still like 50 tables.

Worst first post ever. You have no credibility here Mr. Firstpost and you're talking about a site that has the best customer service in the industry. Not only do they have the best tech support, but they are quick to right the wrongs when things do go wrong.

It appears that PokerStars is still down this morning (5 am EST). Not surprised as I observed symptoms over the last couple weeks that would require serious diagnostics and perhaps revision/rework. So, shall be patient.

CORRECTION: It appears they are now back up; just received an eMail from their support unit. They have suggestions on how to clean up your end, if there are still problems logging into the system ... write them at support@pokerstars.com if you need their help.
