Pokerstars WCOOP series

Anyone planning on playing in any of these World Championship of Online Poker games? Not really looked at any of these high stakes series before (had a go at the mini FTOPS on tilt with marginal success) but these really caught my eye.
Most of the events have buy in's between $109 and $1000, but i've seen a good few satellites running around the $20 mark, think i'll have to have a go in a few of these.
The main event in a couple of months time is a $10,000,000 prize pool. Thats more than the world series main event!

Is that the highest paying online tourney to date? Seen them up to maybe 2 mil, this is crazy though. Doubt i'm gonna make the $10K buy-in for this one, i'll chance my arm at some of the lower ones though.
Love to hear if anyone has already satty'd in or is planning a run at them.

These games do look intresting and the buy-ins are well past my megre BR but I may try some super sattys see if I can get lucky. I know there are a few people who played some events last year from here and I myself watched some of the main event. I think the prize pool is 10 mill btw and not the first prize .

Yup, thats what I said: 10,000,000 prize pool. First is still 35% of the total 10mil though, making it a fairly juicy 3.5 million dollars for first spot.

I think, the WCOOP Main Event is a $5,200 buy-in.

They are running multi-table SNGs to some of the events. Step 1 is a $7.50 180 man SNG to a step 2 $27.00 180 man SNG. The step 1 pays 40 seats to the 2nd step and 24 seats to a step 1.

First-I did the steps to win my entry.

Second- I was 1913 out 7351 -ITM was something like 1080(I think) Which is painful as I should have gotten there but for a stupid move.(lessons learned).

As with any tourney you have your donks but not as many. It was a extra deep stack tourney so it played a little different than a regular pokerstars tourney.(more like a ring game to start) I just played my reg game which is tight/agg.

If you play a decent/solid game and not scared(OMG I've never played thus high before-what do I do- type attiude) you will give yourself a chance to cash.

For those who are trying to satellite in to this - I have a great tip for you. Try the Step 1 - $7.50 MTT's. These are the easiest games I have ever played lol.

They start once 180 players register. The top 40 get a step 2 ticket and 41-64 get a step 1 ticket.

I have played 3 and have won 3 step 2 tickets - so I am essentially buying step 2 tickets that are worth $27 for only $7.50. Now I realize that eventually I will lose one - but so far that is proving to be a hard thing to do. (The only problem so far is that they take a long time to fill up -otherwise I would be playing them non-stop lol).

I plan on using some of the step 2 tickets for WCOOP satellites into $215 events.

I bought into an extreme satellite for $7.50 today - and won a $109 WCOOP entry.

That wasn't too difficult either - at one point I was 3rd from last and in shove or fold mode for a while. I eventually worked my way up to the top 10 from there.

I played my 4th one today and only won a step 1 ticket - but that means I get to try again for free. But it was close - I finished 50th and top 40 get the step 2.

I have a couple of step 2 tickets leftover from last year. So I'm planning to enter a couple of the satellites. Mainly one tonight that has 100 seats added to the $320 buyin tournament at 9pm.

Assuming of course I'm not already mad about some earlier poker blunder. If so then I'll do it another day.

I'll try one of the 7.50 extreme satellites to get into the $109 8-game as that is possibly the easiest way to get my hands on a WCOOP bracelet.

Man I didn't realize just how slow those WCOOP extreme satellites were. It took me a little while during the mid second hour to realize that the using up of time was what I should be doing, along with everyone else at my table to get to the top 281.

So I surfed the net and never played another hand, just allowed my time to run out each time and used up the time bank. Ended up getting one of the $215 tickets, now to figure out which WCOOP event I want to enter.

I still have one Step 2 ticket left over from last year so I'm thinking I'll try it once more or maybe go play a Step 2 SnG to get a Step 3 ticket and try one of the higher ones.

Yea - once you reach a certain point if you have enough chips to get in there is no point in getting involved in any hands - except maybe to get rid of some short stacks with your premium hands.

I have another step 2 ticket so will probably try for a $215 game today. You can also use them for some $320 games.

Hey Dakota I am having trouble getting into a 180 mtt, when do you play them the most recently, it might just be lack of traffic for them in the times I play in England.

Yea - it is so sad that these things don't fill up because they are so easy to beat. I can usually only play 1 a day because they don't fill up. It is usually in the early afternoon in the US.

I don't know what your schedule is like but if you are typical working til 5 or 6pm check it as soon as you get home - you should be able to get in it.

I think McCluskey was refering to your remark about "more than the World Series Main Event" The main event was more like 80,000,000 or so (not exact, but closer)

Sory guys I'm a little confused.

If I win the the $27 Extreme Satellite (100 seats) Tourney,

what do I qualify for???

It says you qualify for the WCOOP Extreme Satellite H $215 Winners) Tourney...but is that tournament a big cash tourney? or is it another tourney you need to win to qualify for one of the big ones?

You win a ticket that can be used for any of the $215 WCOOP events.
