They have introduced a new VIP level called chromestar, and the requirements are going to be, from Jan 2013, as follows.

Bronzestar - Default VIP level

Chromestar - 100 vpp's per month

Silverstar - 500 vpp's per month (Down from 750 vpp per month)

Goldstar - 2500 vpp's per month (Down from 3000 vpp per month)

Platinumstar - 7500 vpp's per month (No change)

They have also announced some prizes for 5m and 10m lifetime vpp's, some stuff about limo's for supernova players at the PCA, and upgraded rooms for all SNE going to the PCA.

They will also let you kind of bet on your yearly VPP earnings, you can invest some FPP's and say whether you are going to hit 100k, 200k or 300k VPP's over the year, if you stay on pace throughout the year pokerstars will reward you with cash bonuses (i think he said that)

Pretty good news for micros players imo, bound to be more fish around with that little incentive to hit 100vpp per month, and also some fish who may now stick around and try to grind silver every month. Much easier to earn silver and make 1.5 fpps per vpp next year, which will add a little over the year to a lot of people.

Will this affect the rakeback equivalent in terms of value of fpp/vpps etc.
Srtuggling to work out the value . NOt sure whether to play cash on Pokerstars or Ful Tilt as more transparent on Full tilt as they now pay your rake directly back at the end of every week

No the FPP/VPP value has not changed, silver still gets 1.5fpps per vpp etc, just the requirements to hit these levels has changed.

I think there are certain stakes/format/playing styles that are more suited to one site or the other, but as a silverstar player, hitting about 22kish hands per month I've made around 20% RB on stars this year, from reload bonuses, stellar rewards, and good use of fpps, for me personally, its better on stars, but it might not be the same for you.

This is good news for me. Being a tourney player it's hard even to make silver since I moved alot of my play to Full Tilt. At 500 points a month it should be easy enough to make it and maintain gold status on FT too.

Im mostly a cash game player and the tournament tickets arent ideal for me as they are long MTTs.
Prefer it If they offered $5 $10 tickets etc where you can buy into Turbo MTTS or SNGs etc. I managed to get gold in November so ended up buying 3 * $75 VIP Bonus as well as the usual VPP Stellar Rewards up to 20000 FPPS. NO sure if that was the best way to spend my FPPS

This is actually good. Maybe it sounds crazy but 2500 for gold is a good thing for players like me who are still wondering the waters between 5 and 10 NL. I am a bankroll nit and i will not move to 25 NL without 100 BI. It is slow but sure and a lot to learn and reaching gold easier it is helpfull fot RB.

And it is the same amount needed to qualify for our freeroll so that is handy!
