| pokerstars "stars" show or not? this is more of a fact finding post than anything else. I was wondering for those of you that earn the silver , gold, etc. pokerstars each month at pokerstars do you prefer to show them or hide them and why? Also to those that play against other players that show there pokerstars do those pokerstars affect your play at all? I usually don't show my pokerstars (the few times that I earn them ) but would like to hear others opinions on this subject... thanks bryan |

| They don't alter how I play when someone has them showing, it shows they play much more volume, but I don't necessarily think they are super skilled. Some def are, but i don't think it applies to all of them. I would think that the really good players would not show it, and the ones who want ppl to think they are really good would. |

It doesn't reflect skill in any shape or form. Obviously the small minority who are regs who play a lot of volume show a profit but it's quite easy to know who are good and bad players. It doesn't really affect how I play vs them either as it shouldn't really. If anything, anyone showing say platium, supernova at micros I will check them out. I'm not surprised to often find they are losing rich players who play lots. The same applies to mid/high limits, some just can afford to play the high limits and earn a high status but it doesn't mean they are particuly great. Someone with supernova elite "usually" is a good player but I guess if you're playing someone of that status you have to be good yourself. I woulden't read much into it in the lowest levels. |

| re: pokerstars "stars" show or not? I don't show my Silverstar. I notice if I'm against someone with 4 or 5 pokerstars -- I guess I assume they are playing a lot of tables, so ABC, and they likely have me on a HUD as well. 1-3 pokerstars doesn't mean much to me, though... I REALLY take notice when I see 5 pokerstars in an MTT -- those guys I almost always look up on OPR. About 50-50 so far among winners and losers... |

| I think the key thing to remember about the number of pokerstars that a person has next to their name shows the volume of hands they have played, not their actual skill level. Nevertheless, I would argue that if they are playing a lot more hands than other players, their skill level is higher because it takes awhile to play those number of hands and be successful. However, don't be intimidated by them, just play your A-game and you will be fine. |

| The only reason I showed my lowly bronze star to begin with was I didnt know how to turn it off. Now that I do i dont want to lol. I dont care who has how many pokerstars for the same reasons already quoted. What I will do is try to be a bit more aggressive against the gold pokerstars and above. I will use it as training. Always trying to learn aren't we? |

I used not even realise I had a bronze star cos I was rarely playing on PS but since I have in the last couple weeks, I've had at least 2 people laugh at me for showing my bronze star, usually when I put a bad beat on them. |
