Pokerstars needs to step up Just thinking about a few things about the two main poker sites. Pokerstars is a good site, I feel its the best on the net. BUT...for people who dont have rolls and want to build, what do they offer? Full Tilt has the Freerolls that give the chance at winning $15. They run those all day everyday. They just put up a 2k Prize Pool Turbo Freeroll today and have the "Face the Ace" and Main Event Freerolls where they will even give you $10 Mil If you win the Main Event. What about Pokerstars? They have those crappy Hubble Tourneys where if you finish in the top whatever you make the weekly round two. What else do they have? It's seems a bit greedy to me. They make so much money and they don't "share the wealth" like Full Tilt does. Some of us don't have the extra income to throw out to gamble. I could deposit $50 or $100 If need be, but its not that big of a deal to me right now PLUS I'm trying to earn it in freerolls. I would like to try it on Stars but there isnt enough on there to do it. What does everyone else think?

Why should they bother? They have enough players depositing and playing that they have no need to try to attract new players via freeroll. Its definitely not greedy for PS not to offer tons of FRs. They are a business. A business is about making money. Why should they give away free money when they already have plenty of money rolling in from players who deposit. You are not entitled to get FRs all day from a poker site. Sites that offer tons of freerolls are trying to draw new members and eventually get them to deposit. PS doesn't need to do this.

They give away alot if you can get some FPPs. They have a lot of giveaways for small amounts of points if you are low on funds. (example--the turbo giveaway is a Monthly One Million dollar Freeroll where you can enter easily by playing 20FPP events they have near the tourny date, and they pay like 1/3 of the field with good pay amounts) The best way to obtain funds on PokerStars if you have a zero balance, is to join one of the many staking sites and get staked on PokerStars. Just like a Freeroll. Just about any player can get a small stake in a MTT or SNG.

re: Pokerstars needs to step up Pokerstars rewards long time / frequent users more than anything else. They also hand out a small $5 to start from what I've heard, so they can't be too greedy. Stars has the right mentality. Reward frequent players, and give only enough to the new players to get the ball rolling. The VIP program is very nice if you are a supernova or supernova elite. Platinum users get a good deal too, but it really isn't ideal for losing rakeback.

Most freerolls suck anyway, except CC freerolls. Step up and deposit, instead of asking for a hand out. Full tilt also has a higher rake, so are they really spreading the wealth as you claim. Or do they offer more give aways cause they charge more for thier service?

The point of freerolls is to get those people to try out poker at first AND to frustrate them at how awful people play freerolls and micros so that they have an incentive to deposit and move up where their raises get respect. |

re: Pokerstars needs to step up PS actually seems quite fair in what they offer, imo. They have always been a leader in offering the lowest buy-in games: ring, sng and mtt with the lowest rakes. They also offer the near hourly freerolls 24/7 as the only 'satellite' to the Round 2 cash $2,000 games. Get just a few FPP's and they run numerous 10 and 20FPP mtt's daily with cash immediate payouts, unlike the others that run their FPP type games to be mostly sats to sats, etc. PS also runs the 10c, 25c and 50c (no rake) mtt's with cash payouts several times daily. I have never deposited on any site, and my biggest BR is on Stars and it's a withdrawable balance. That didn't happen by accident. It was attained by taking advantage of the offers that Pokerstars DOES have and making them work for me.

Honestly i've had no problems building a starter bankroll from Pokerstars, I qualified in the Hubble, Moved on and cashed for a small amount. It was only for like 1.90 , But its a start....I plan to grind the .10 micro sng's and see what i can do. But generally everyone is right. The freerolls are just to get you hooked and make you want to deposit. I rather enjoy running these freeroll donkeys to the rail as often as possible. Its a challenge to see how many freeroll donkeys i can make cry! I'm so horrible. But back to the subject: being as Pokerstars has the absolute largest amount of players, they arent looking to step up anymore than they have already.
