Dear users,

I am a journalist from Armenia and preparing an article on gaming industry in my country. My investigation showed that pokerstars is operating there without a license, in one word VIOLATING THE LOCAL LAW which can cause huge penalties and fines.
I have written press and communications departments of PokerStars but no answer follows.
I wanted to know whether there are any other cases like this (operating in a country without acquiring state license for provision of online gaming activities) and which are the countries. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I just wonder, are the stock holders of PokerStars aware that their equity is held by an irresponsible company???

Does the Armenian government explicitly require that online gaming operators be licensed? Which local law do you think that they are violating? I suspect that the regulation of foreign online gaming companies in Armenia may, in fact, be a gray area.

I don't agree with you, when pokerstars offer their services to players from a country, they are territorialy related to law in that country, cause players are running the software there, so pokerstars are under the juridiction of of every country where the player can play real money games.

another Thing they know that they based in isle of man , so out of jurisdiction of many governments.

This is no longer true and hasn't been for months. Pokerstars was sold for 4.9 Billion this year. The company that owns pokerstars as of September of this year is located in Montreal canada and is now in reach of the government.

It is now a publicly traded company, and no longer privately owned

That is why there has been such a large concern that Stars withdrawl from the Canadian market it incoming very soon, as well as a lot of other markets where it is a "grey area"
