Pokerstars freerolls I just noticed they have some new freeroll games. I just entered a 5 card draw no limit freeroll. NO LIMIT IN 5 CARD DRAW???? That's just plain crazy if you ask me.

They've had them for quite a while now. Same with no limit 2-7 single draw. Nothing more than complete stupidity, plain and simple, anything for a rake from the adrenalin junkies. Games like that are online poker on a steroids overdose. Luckbox lotteries in their finest moments.

Biggest difference I see is that the standard $50-100 freerolls have such minimal payouts and like FT's, the US ones fill in 15 seconds. I prefer playing better poker and making it into $2,000 prize pool tourneys. |

that is why I prefer bodog freeroll, I have cashed several times and I even placed second once, but I can only get to around 50th position in pokerstar freeroll, so hopefully, the have another PPA event or some free roll that actually pays!

re: Pokerstars freerolls since they added more tourneys and run more frequently they dropped the entry #'s and dropped from final 11 tables to final 8 tables recieving tickets to the weekly tourney. Still good practice and a nice shot a cash.

I try and play the satellite to the Daily 80 Grand every day, but my computer usually isn't fast enough to register before it fills up with 10,000 people in about 30 seconds. I have cashed a couple of times, though, and top 5 win $55, so it's a nice payout if you can survive for 6 hours. The one time I made the final table, though, it took forever because the blinds stop going up at level 25, and people played so tight it was unreal. I think they should keep going up to shorten the tourney.

i agree! why not just hold a $50 or $100 freeroll instead for a round 2 tickets! time is very important for some players but for a freeroll it is understandable that they setup this one up with $2000 price pool |

Pokerstars have got some great regional tourneys on at the moment. I just qualified for the UK $50K guarenteed tourney on 24 March. They are obviously pushing the PR side of things hard trying to get new players and it seems to be working.

Pokerstars freerolls are indeed the most frustrating experience. You get to round 2 of the things and it's just donkfest round two. You barely have the patience to make it to top 60 or 70 or whatever in the first round to finally get your ticket, and then at round two you have to reexperience the same bs. You'd think people would have some talent to get the ticket, but instead you are guaranteed to be knocked out by some raising maniac that you call down to the river, only to be knocked out by ace-on-the-river-jokerstars.

So I play freerolls at pokerstars except holdem because it's not funny to me. Another thing is that I'd like pokerstars had similar freerolls to full tilt with its $100 freeroll or freerolls with more money |

i've kind of given up on PS. i've gotten into the 2nd round a couple times and if i'm in the right frame of mind - ready to be extremly patient i can win a little. but there is too much time involved for too little $. i've just gotten a couple other poker sites i've joined that i'm going to explore. so good luck on PS freerolls. peace

the first time i won a ticket on the ps freeroll i was playing nl oma/hi-low and it was getting late, i was small-stacked, and it was after the first break so blinds were getting big compared to my stack. i was tired so, i pushed a hand i would normally never all-in with just to get rid of my chips, and won the hand. I kept pushing so i could go to sleep, and kept winning and knocking people out. that woke me up a bit. within 30min i had over 1million chips. I fell asleep sitting up before the tourney ended, and when i awoke the next morning the final table screen was on and i had won second place!

ps freerolls are really not freerolls at all. They are just a sattelite to the next round. Have to finish in the top 64 - 88 and then you have to play a whole nother game before you can make any money. Try a different site or deposit money instead.

You need to be verylucky to win or do well in these freerolls. I have played some but I usually just sit out for the first 10 mins or so until things settle down a bit. I really do not understand what people get out of going all in with nothing hands. Sometimes they get lucky but usually they are out 3 hands later.

just played in thier round two freeroll and also the EPT live freeroll the had, didn't cash this time, but there is always next time and waiting for the fifty satelite freeroll requires a fast connection and good reflexes, because ten seconds is all you have to act before the entire 10000 seats are taken, don't mind the wait, have being cashing out in freerolls for the last three days so I am back to level I was when I was taking down cc freerolls about a year ago.

I went in a Badugi FreeRoll last week at 9 PM my time - at 3 AM in the morning (6 hrs later) I was at 61st place - 12 spots off of the qualifying - when I was falling asleep and went down the tubes. Any PS FR I go in will have to be alot earlier than that one. It was a good experience to play Badugi for free and get the feel of the game. I like PokerStars.

I just play the freerolls as a side tourney when I'm playing another tourney or cash game. Don't take them too serious at all. I'll bank 8 tickets or so, and when I use them up I start over. I just got 5 tickets in the last 2 days. You can build a big stack and then sit out. Check back in 30 minutes and see if you have to play any more. You'll see alot of people panicing towards the bubble and playing hands they wouldn't have to play.

freerolls are a pain in the butt,i stopped playing em years ago ,variance in mtts is bad enough, but add 9000 awful players and give them 9 lives each and the result is a game not worth winning and completely unenjoyable, freerolls bring bad players to your site ,which is a good thing ,you cant complain when they hit lucky on you!! we,ve all made dumb plays and been rewarded for it

The Stars freerolls are paying tickets for less than 1% of the entries. There's no way you'll sit out with a lukbox starting stack and make a ticket. Quote:
If you've been down to 100th or so, then you already know that even 100,000 at that point is pretty marginal. Blinds in the NL games at the beginning of the 5th hour are 8k/16k with a 1.6k ante. How many orbits can you survive just sitting? About 5. In order to fold all the way, you need about 150k+ when you get down to the 100 spot. It's a little easier to play the limit games when you can build and maintain a stack. There are no (or lower) antes to deal with in the later stages. You don't get hurt as bad by folding to a ticket. Even then, making it into the 'less than 1%' isn't all that easy. You'll still need at least 80-100k when it gets down to about 125, and there's still no 'guarantee'. You need to check the other tables, see how many others are just sitting/folding and their stacks compared to yours. |

Here's a good example. Currently in an 8-game, pays 8 tbls, 48 tickets 38,000 chips, sitting only 109/197 remaining. Not even close at 38k. Coming up on 4th hour. Stakes already 1600/3200 - 320 ante Chip leader at 180k, avg about 42k. ---------------- Starting 5th hour, 46k, I'm only at 81 of 120 remaining. Chip leader is 261,000 and avg is 70k. No way can anyone make a few thousand chips early and sit out or fold to a ticket !! ------------------- Last edited by nevadanick : 23rd March 2009 at 11:45 PM.

4 1/2 hours in. Made it to 125k. 23 of 84 remaining. Now I can fold to a ticket. I'll post here what I have left when it gets down to 48. I'll fold til then. ... No shame in folding now. 48 is as good as 1st. ---------------- End of 5th hour. 90k left. Gave up 35k folding down 25 places. There are 59 left and I'm at 38 of 59. ------------------- Last edited by nevadanick : 24th March 2009 at 12:50 AM.

Got my ticket. ... gave up 90k folding 36 places, had 35k left at 48 places. Anyone who says they can play a few hands early then sit out or fold is ... well ... do the math. Can't be done. !!! So... my figures above earlier were pretty dead-on. When you get to 100 places, you better have 100k+ minimum if you plan on folding to a ticket.

re: Pokerstars freerolls I actually placed in one of my worst games ever, it was stud hi/lo limit I believe. After placing in that, I've been into limit games more than ever now. It's surprising how well I can do if I just try. However... those second round freerolls have 5-7k people in them. The average person can just hope at winning a dime from them. I haven't used my ticket, and it's been a few weeks since I've won it.
