I've played a few of these SNG's on pokerstars and I'm undecided whether it is possible to a long term winner. I've played less than 10 and so far i'm negative the rake. Anyone have opinions or more results?

The regs on "another forum" have a pretty long thread about it. They seem to think that the format decreases the edge a good player has compared to standard top 3 paid. Although it's not as bad now that the rake has been lowered.

The overwhelming opinion, though, is that's it's boring as hell, even when you gazillion-table them.

I agree w belgo, boring and time consuming. Sure you can multitable and show a profit, but it still takes forever, so the ROI taking your time into account is not good.
They are very nitty games. Sitting at a table where nobody makes a move for half an hour is just mind numbing after a while.
A bad side effect of these is that they will draw a lot of unskilled players (fish) out of the regular SNG pool.

The good news is that once the unskilled fish think they have mastered the SNG 'cause they can beat half the field, half the time, will move back up to try for more money.

There is a thread already about this - can they be merged?

I just tried these and I'm 3 for 3!!! If you play them as a turbo they don't take very long and then they aren't quite as tight. If you think they are time consuming you are crazy. The tourney ends when you hit 5....you get the same money you would for 3rd in a normal SNG.... and you can probably get 5 games done in the time that it would take to finish 3 normal SNGs. I agree it's not as profitable for a great player, but if you are just trying to grind out some easy money it's pretty darn easy.

I have mixed feelings on the double or nothing's, so far. The turbos seem to go way too fast and if you get out-drawn on a decent sized pot its hard to crawl your way back. The non-turbos are so tight its not even funny. I have a good record at regular single table SNGs so I think I'm going to swear off the double or nothings for awhile. To me they aren't profitable enough to play exclusively.
Although... the PL Omaha double or nothings (non-turbo) seem to be extremely soft game, just a thought.. if youre into PL Omaha

Oh man I like these. Yesterday I turned $9 into $45 in about 2 hours. I cashed in everyone i played in i think. I did have a little help doubling $10 in a NL ring game though. I really think they are good since u only really have to beat 5 ppl. I've found it pretty easy 2 cash.
