Pokerstars BR from play chips or freeroll

I rarely play at pokerstars and don't feel like depositing there. Was thinking about trying to get a BR from freerolls. These are just insane donk fests and much time is needed for little reward. I decided to play in a play chip tourney and am doing well.

I looked into it and there are sites that pay you for play chips around $10 per million. I am almost thinking with multi tabling these might be the easier way to go.

Either way would take some time, but i think i might give it some and try it out.

There is a few sites that will buy your chips for around $7-$11 per million play chips. As for the freerolls on PS go. Your first have to beat out 7500 people to even get a ticket to play in the $2k round 2 tourny. I would try getting to a mil or more play chip route instead of the freeroll. Seems like more of a challenge to me and once you get to a million you are garunteed $ vs playing the round 2 freeroll for 2 hrs and not making anything but some small change. Just my opnion though,.

NO, PS will not give you money for your play chips. But, there are sites that buy play chips and then sell them. Don't really get it but I guess there are people out there willing to pay to have millions of chips. It is possible on PS because you can transfer play chips. Ive heard of it for Full Tilt, but you cannot transfer play chips so would have to break their rules and dump the chips.

Be warned, this is not as easy as it sounds.

Some people have side businesses that do thing, but from other posts I've read the market has dropped out. Those people just aren't buying play chips anymore (I guess they're harder to resell).

If you think that playing hours of freerolls for what comes to a few pennies per hour is too much work, then bite the bullet and buy a gift card (that works).

You cannot withdraw money unless you have made a deposit, so you might as well make things easier for yourself and deposit now. Once you have money it's much MUCH easier to make money.

The thing I wonder about with playing with play chips is how it affects your game. No matter what limits you play with play money it's not gonna be like real money so how much do you guys think it affects your real money game? Surely grinding out millions of play chips can't be good for your overall performance.

Hey man I know it might be a lot of trouble to deposit but really, spare yourself the trouble of a month's sweat and put together 30$. That way you can win both time and money and manage a healthy BRM earlier on...

If you believe playmoney is a joke, then try the 200K playmoney tournaments where the top 3 gets paid out, 1st being around 700K I believe.

Go ahead and make a few mil per hour, thats about $20-$30/hour --- trust me I've tried it and it isn't that easy.

There are several reasons people buy/sell playmoney.

--Fast way to cash out, websites will instantly buy your chips and hand you over the money.

--You can create as many accounts as you want, no verification ID, deposit, ect. to play on playmoney tables.

--No age limit for playmoney.

As has been stated, unless this policy has changed recently, it is not true. However, as SP states, if you can already make money, it's so much easier to start out through depositing. Also, once you cash out, you lose eligibility for the initial deposit bonus which is VERY relevant if you are a winning player.

Why shouldn't one be playing if they can't afford to deposit? Many people build rolls from nothing and this is just an alternative to playing freerolls. Also, many people have motivations other than being broke such as difficulty depositing, or not wanting to actually "spend" money on poker.

If you have difficulty depositing, you are either lazy or a moron. It's not hard to deposit. I always laugh when I see people say that.

If you are on financial hard times and can't deposit, then poker is probably one of the last things you should be doing. As I've said a million times on this site. Poker is not a get rich quick scheme. Playing freerolls to build a roll will make using BRM impossible and it's just a matter of time until you eventually lose what you make in freerolls due to the fact you can't use BRM.

Also the mentality of most the folks that try to play poker for free aren't able to show the discipline poker actually requires to be profitable over the long haul. Would you like me to go on?

Also be warned, this is not very fun. Jus deposit $50 and go play some 0.02/0.05NLHE. The fish on those levels will pay u off playin ABC poker. Which is alot faster than grinding freerolls + play chips.

Many people have trouble depositing especially if they don't have the ability to get the All Access Visa or whatever works on Stars. Other forms of depositing require disclosing personal information that some may not want to disclose.

Why is BRM impossible when you play freerolls? There are ways to systematically manage your bankroll while supplementing it with freerolls that allow you to efficiently increase your roll while managing risk.

Yeah except some people do it. If I recall correctly, Belgo and Janovsky have built pretty big rolls without depositing and I had a pretty big roll from nothing before I deposited for the first time on Stars.

There are many ways to deposit, if not a singe one of them works for you, you have bigger problems. If you don't want to disclose the personal information required to deposit, then what are you going to do when they want that same information to withdrawal?

That's like saying the Lottery is a get rich quick scheme. It's not. Poker is not a get rich quick scheme, period!!! Yeah, you can have an awesome run in a huge MTT and get a big payday which would be nice. However, those wins will be very few and far between. If you want a steady income, poker is a grind. If you have the discipline to play freerolls and nothing else till you have a roll big enough to use proper BRM then yes.

Your average FRW wont and continually be broke. Again if someone does go on a good run, then they'll eventually have to disclose that personal information to withdrawal anyway. So might as well invest in your hobby from the get go and deposit.

I'm not saying it's not possible. Just not likely for most players. Not to mention many wasted hours trying to turn nothing into something. Might as well deposit and start earning something for your time, even if it's just rakeback or FPP's.

If you do not want to disclose bank information, the only options you have are prepaid visa or a money order. You are able to withdraw through check which does not require any bank information. Did you really not hesitate when Pokerstars asked for your social security number?

I'm saying it can be done independent of luck. You could just be really good at poker and grind up SnGs or cash games.

If they aren't a winning player to begin with, they're going to lose that initial deposit anyways. For most people who are starting out, winning money from freerolls/playchips, can create a greater sense of value in the small amounts of money they make because they worked hard to get there. It's so much easier to lose $50 that you deposited compared to $50 that took you 50 hours to make not to mention the skills that you acquire during that process. Someone who grinds play chips is going to have a certain amount of discipline in them by default imo.

Why does wanting something for nothing imply that someone is cheap especially when it is likely to require some work? Do we always have to invest money to make money? Calling people morons for doing something that tilts you when they may have a legitimate reason for doing it is uncalled for imo.

PokerStars has never asked me for my SSN. If they do now, I'm not aware. Again you still have prepaid visa or money orders. Which goes back to just being lazy. There are options to deposit, some might take more work than others, but there are options for everyone.

You are learning bad habits and not real poker playing for play chips. What works there wont work in real money games for the most part. You are essentially learning how not to play.

If you only deposit $50 you'll go broke anyway because you can't use proper BRM. The only shot you would have to not go broke would be to run good and not hit any downswings before you get to a point where you can use proper BRM.

Yes, if you are talking about money in terms of investing. It takes money to make money. Essentially, that's what you are doing in poker, investing your money. Like in all investments, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you win.

I think they ask for it for certain forms of payment. I can't remember exactly what it was. Obtaining an all access prepaid visa or a money order can be a pain for some people depending on location. Everyone has their own circumstances. It's a lot easier for some people to deposit as compared to others.

If you are talented, you can make 7 figures in a couple of years. That is a get rich quick scheme in my book as there are no few ways to achieve such a feat aside from being a successful entrepreneur which is nearly impossible in some countries due to the law. Who said a get rich scheme had to be effortless? I'm not comparing poker to those fraudulent get rich kind of promotions on line. I'm just saying that it is probably the only way for some people who otherwise couldn't earn that kind of money, to make that kind of money, especially over a relatively short time span.

So high stakes play money is so much different than .01/.02 NL? I've never played high stakes play money and have almost no experience playing below 10nl but I've heard quite the contrary.

There are easily ways to make money from $50 without playing freerolls with very little risk of ruin. If I grinded $1 double or nothings with a 30 buy in rule before moving up, my risk of ruin is very close to 0.

Yes, and grinding play chips requires work too. Poker is not the same as investing as you can make money from nothing and saying that making something from nothing as cheap is just a perspective imo. Why do you have to risk something to win something? If poker is a hobby, why would you pay for it when you could just do it for free instead? A lot of people consider poker as gambling but I do not see it that way. I made a relatively steady income playing poker and while I did lose money on occasion, I always saw myself as "making money", not gambling.

To grind and make 7 figures a year playing poker is hardly a get rich quick scheme. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be able to get to that point. If you get to that point you are earning a high wage for the job you are doing. Hardly a get rich quick scheme.

Also earning 7 figures in a couple of years is highly unlikely if you didn't have some money to start with. Even with a little money to start with, highly unlikely.

Long grind to get there. Again, hardly getting rich quick. I've never played the DON's but that seems reasonable. However, that's all you are limited too. Also part of a proper BRM plan is to be able to drop down in levels. I don't see how that would give you any room to drop down due to a down swing. You would only be rolled for 2nl and those DON's.

Because doing it for free isn't real poker. You realize the "Free Poker" deal has really only been around since the poker boom? The idea is to get people interested so they eventually deposit and play for real. If you're not willing to do that you are a cheap bastard in my eyes.
