This is off the PokerStars website:

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is a non-profit organization set up to help protect and fight for the rights of poker players in the United States. Part of the PPA's mission is to protect the right of poker players to play online. PokerStars supports the efforts of the PPA and wants to give PokerStars players a chance to support the PPA as well. To encourage players to join the PPA, we're running a daily $1 buy-in tournament with $5,000 added to the prize pool. The tournaments will run at 21:30 ET so all American players have a chance to play.

By entering the tournament, you agree to become an introductory (free) member of the Poker Players Alliance and grant PokerStars the right to pass along your personal information (name, address, e-mail, and date of birth) to the PPA.

For more information on the organization, please visit the Poker Players Alliance home page.
Important notes:
  • Each PokerStars player may only enter one PPA Tournament
  • Events are open only to players living in the United States
  • Please check the mailing address you have on file with PokerStars to make sure it is correct

Is there anything hidden in terms of service that says we need to become paying members after the introductory period? Or we need to send them some % of our winnings?

However, I do like the sounds of the tourney, so I may need to check it out.

Also, any idea how long this will be going on?

not sure about the membership details, and to be honest i didn't realize that commitment was neccessary, thankfully effexor found and posted those details, i apologize.

i beleive Pokerstars has these tournaments running nightly until friday. sept 15, or at least that is when they have them announced until.

Once again i apologize for the left out info, and sorry to those who feel i mislead them, it was not intentional.

No worries here. I doubt anyone feels you were misleading them. I was just asking the questions as I have a natural cynical side to me. (Of course everyone should be aware that a pessimist is just an optimist with experience. ).

Well I played the one tonight. Not my night.

UTG+1 raises standard raise PF, I call with 77.

Flop is Q82, I lead out with a feeler bet, villian smooth calls.
Turn is a 7. I bet the pot, he calls.
River is a blank, I go all in, he calls showing pocket Queens. I'm out.

Just thought of a good idea........

You are only allowed to register in 1 of these tournaments. (as Effexor has shown above, therefor if you play in one that runs late this week or even this weekend the number of players is going to be a lot smaller.

For example one is currently registering and has 9 mintutes left untill game time, only 600 playerts registered, where as early in the week it was close to 2000.

still a prize pool of 5K+ but 2/3's less donkeys and fish to battle through....

just thought i would let you all know, so for those who haven't played one yet, they can hopefully have a massive payday for 1$ (minus my 10% cut of course) just kidding!!!

GOOD LUCK!!

I didn't realize that we could only play once. i was just sitting here banging my head on the desk because I missed the registration by about two minutes. Arrgghh.

But if I couldn't get in anyway, then it doesn't matter. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll just have to live with a 5th place finish. Rats.
