Poker Token SnGs at Full Tilt Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has tried/had an success with the SnGs at Full tilt that payout the $26 tokens. I've been starring at them for a while now and am going to watch one when it starts soon to see the play, But I was going to give one a try. They seem like a fun way to get yourself into some bigger tournys and, hopefully, more $$. I know that they can kinda go against bankroll management but I kind of see them as playing in a satellite where I have a good range of tournements to pick from if I were to advance. Right now I would classify myself as still a new player who is always learning, but I think I could hold my own I one of these and get a shot at a $26 token. Any advice on playing these as well as any kind of story anyone has from expereince playing one of these SnGs, specifically the 18 person ones which are what I feel would be my best bet. thanks for the help, RedskinRunner

UPDATE: from what I've seen, there are ALOT of TAG who play these tables and make it to the final, meaning that it looks like raising blinds with good hands and trapping is the best bet here. Its good poker that people are playing here, I'll watch one more and get back to everyone give me personal final review...

re: Poker Token SnGs at Full Tilt I was looking at these last night, they have 1200FTP STT's that give a token to top 3. Sounds good, though still haven't decided whether to go for it or not. Anyone have any better suggestions for using FTP's?

Building a Bankroll on Fulltilt This is something I read on another forum, so it's not exactly my own idea, but it helped me a lot to build my bankroll, it may help you too. Credit to Slo-mo, thx buddy, hope you dont mind me sharing. O.k. I know a lot of people want to build their BR. Some are just naturally better at it than others. Well I'm gonna break down and easy and effective way I've found to build one on Fulltilt. One of the main things I've noticed is that people really get caught up in going for that big win. That one game that will make them over 1k, but in order to get there they have to go through 1.5k in people. I'm sorry but most of us can't win a freeroll with that many people consitantly enough to really make this a viable way to build your BR. So instead let's focus on the small wins that will allow us to safely play within our means to attaining that larger win shall we? I recommend playing the $2 18 man sit n go's. They are reletively easy as all you really need is to win 1 decent pot and your at the final table, and one more decent pot your looking to cash. The top 4 get paid but for us we only worry about the top 3 spots. The payout for these is: 1st= $14.40 ( allows 2 try's at a $26 token while still maintaining a profit) 2nd=$10.80 ( allows 1 try at a $26 token while still maintaining a profit) 3rd=$7.20 ( allows 1 try at a $26 token while still maintaining a profit) So let's start with saying you have made a $50 deposit (note this works with just about any size BR) You let's say you enter into 1 of these and you place 2nd: you earn $8.55 profit ***NOTE: If you lose, you want to play again and not move on until your BR is back at or over your original $50 or whatever you started at Now enter into a $4.40 9 man sit n go for a $26 token.(you still have increased your BR to: $54.15) Payout: 1st=$26 token 2nd=$10 If you win then you just bank the $26 token as we are going to collect these for now. If you take 2nd, you have made a $5.60 profit and you have made enough to try another $4.40 9 man game for a token. If you lose, you return and play another $2 18 man game. Rinse and repeat these efforts until you have managed to accumulate 5 or more $26 tokens. Doing it this way allows you to build your BR in $4.15, $3.35 and $.55 increments, which at first doesn't seem like much, but if you manage to keep doing that and collect 5 tokens you will have increased your BR and gained $130 just off the tokens alone! Now when you do use the $26 tokens try and stay away from the temptations of the big payout games like the 28k guarantees. I say this because you have to go through huge fields to even get to the money and with that variance it can be quite difficult. I would instead just use 1 token for something like this and use the other 4 in 9 man sit n go's or the 45 man sit n go(my fav.) or the 18 man games for a $75 token(to which you can apply the same strategy from above when it comes to collecting these) 9 man sit n go sat's to the 75k guarantee have a pretty good pay out: 1st: $109 2nd: $ 53 3rd: $32 4th: $21.40 (note: although it may not seem like it, you actually still made money cuz it really only cost you $4.40) 45 man pay out: 1st: $410.40 2nd: $270 3rd: $172.80 4th: $108 5th: $64.80 6th: $54 (again all it's really cost you to play in these is $4.40, so it's a pretty nice return on your money) 18 man for a $75 token: 1st - 5th: $75 token 6th: $57 Now this of course can be tweaked to your liking, but I do know that this works very well and it's a safe way to build without playing outside your means. Now lets talk about using the FTP's. Seriously forget getting a hat or shirt or whatever, if you really add it up that hat that cost you 3k FTP's is costing you about $35. Instead use these points for other things. I don't know like increasing your BR! lol Again a trap most people find themselves falling into is going for the glory by playing and replayin either the really small buy in donk infested ones where if you don't win first you don't win anything or the larger costing ones that well are pretty much the same! lol The 3 I prefer to play are these: 90 pt 27 player sat. to the midnight madness. (game is pretty easy to beat if you play a TAG style $11 TD to winner) 275 pt 9 player sat. to the daily doubles (game is pretty easy to beat if you play a TAG style $11 TD to winner) 1800 pt 9 player for a $26 token (top 3 get paid a token) Again this is just how I do things and what has worked very well with me. Like most I was constantly going for the glory or playing outside my roll trying to make up the losses, until one day it just all clicked. I was at $2.45 cents when I figured this out, and in less than 5 months I was able to withdraw just under 1k and still leave myself enough to safely buy into $10 games without real fear of hurting my BR. I still do this today even with a comfortable roll, as I have found what I consider to be a eaily mined gold mine just sitting there for the taking.

If i want a token, i go for the 6,60 Token Frenzy, one in 4 gets paid, which isnt all THAT hard to do if you know your stuff... On the downside, the times are not convinient for Europeans... The BR guide is a very good one btw... GL either way aC

re: Poker Token SnGs at Full Tilt cjmoore thats a nice little guide there impressive I used to play alot of these sng's they are actually a good way to start a bankroll with very little fundage. When I play usually I do the 6 man ones of $6 buckers if you win you get the token but finishing 2nd which is pretty easy I might add you still make a little profit

It will take a lot of skills caus there are not only fish that plays them. Even for the $26 token, where top 25% get paid, there is a good field playing these games, you have to play a very solid game to win your token. But still is a good way to increase your bankroll, if you use a good BR-management. |

Thanks CJ for the great guide, might have to give that a whirl. I've put this token quest of mine on the back burner for a little bit, just picked up Doyle Brunson's Super System and will give these token SnGs a try when I feel I've learned enough. I like the pitch you gave to the 6 man SnGs jroy as well, looks like those could prove to be a way into a token. Just gives me more motivation to get this book read and learned so I can get back out on the felt...
