Poker pokerstars Weekly $2000 Freeroll

Woot Woot!
Firts time Ive made it into the Poker stars $2000 Freeroll (playing HORSE, my worst game).
Anyway, onto serious matters. Is there anyone on here that has won a weekly $2000 Freeroll on PS?
I chose the NL Holdem and I have a general strategy from Dan Harrington's books, but using that strategy ive never been able to win a tourney, second is my best and only for $400.
If anyone has won it please give me a few pointers. what were you thinking-play tight, play loose, Bluff or dont bluff?
Thnx for your help.

I would start out playing tight. A lot of people treat these like any other freeroll(push any 2).

At the moment I got two tickets so i'll play in both this weekend if I can wake up early enough. On the NL hold em I'll play very very tight and pick my spots and hopefully cash for over $1. On the PL Omaha hi 2k on sunday, i'll just have to play good hands and hopefully I don't get to many idiots on my table LOL. On most of the Omaha hi, and Omaha hi-low I get to many people that shove or bet pot on every hand, and it get anoying.

Good luck on the NL hold em on saturday, I'll do my best to play in it. Whats you username on pokerstars? My username on pokerstars is "xtrmal". BEST OF LUCK, we'll both need it.

The $2000 dollar freeroll is a weekly tournament that you have to gain entrance into by winning a seat via the astonomers freerolls.

Under Freerolls tab, and make sure your tournament filter allows all the games not just the Hubble holdem. That way you can learn the other games and gain entrance to the 2K. Sweet.

Play tight tight tight... There are still alot of donks in this freeroll..... U can survive usually in the first hour playing only premium hands.. Unless you catch a bad beat but thats poker...

Play tight aggressive. There are a lot of donkeys in freerolls who go all in with any two. Usually they are weeded out when the blinds get big. That's when you can bust them when you pick up premium hands.

re: Poker pokerstars Weekly $2000 Freeroll

Be patient at first till all the donks are gone then apply your strategy and u should be fine. U may get unlucky cause theres a lot of donks but other than that be patient at first and then losen up as all the donkeys are knocked out.

Not all are 'Hubbles'. Only the NLHE games are called 'Hubble'. The other games have names also, all of which are related to astrology/astronomers.

Stephen Hawking (work on black holes and the origin of space)
Nicolas Copernicus (discovered the earth revolves around the sun)
Sir Edmund Halley (of the famous comet)
Galileo Galilee (inventor of the telescope)
Edwin Powell Hubble (discovered the big bang theory)
Johannes Kepler (discovered of the 3 laws of planetary motion)
Giovanni Cassini (first to prove Earth was not a perfect sphere)
Sir Arthur Eddington (used solar eclipses to prove Einstein correct)
Carl Sagan (host of TV's 'Cosmos'; leader of Voyager probes)
and a few more that were recently added.

Each variety has it's own name and the maximum players varies with each type game depending on card usage and distribution required. Also changes the number of seats awarded to Round 2.

The Saturday Round 2's are always NLHE at 10:00 ET. Sunday Round 2 games rotate between the varieties at 14:00 ET.

Well Spoken

Great reply Nik,

Those are the details for the other tourneys that will gain you entry into the weekly freeroll.

Make sure that your filter allows other games besides holdem and omaha. It really is a great way to learn the other games for free.

I've played it once 3 weeks ago and finished 17th because I went all-in with set ot 5s on a board with 3 hearts. No card paired the board and the player with the flush won.

I played extremely tight at the start because the blind levels increase every 15 minutes, then I started playing very aggressively after the 4th hour when 100-120 players left. You can target the big stacks - they are very vulnerable and fold because they want to keep their chips and reach final table. Everyone played incredibly tight when we are on only 3 tables with 26-27 players.

I wish I won with a full house with the 5s. I was the 11th stack of 17 and the double up meant final table for sure and 3rd or 4th stack.
