Poker Stars has given me $5

Hi,

Poker Stars has given me $5 to play with over the next 10 days.

I don't typically play there. I have only been playing for a month in total and am looking for the best way to take the $5 gift and make the most out ot it.

So how best to make the most out of it, what should I play? I only play FTP freerolls right now and 90player free chip sit and goes.

I appreciate your help.

Cheers!

If you are just starting out, pokerstars have .10, .25. tourneys. they are pretty good practice. Play tight at first, there will be a lot of players out within the first 10 min.
To find them go to tourney, regular, micro. They also add $50.00 to the prize pool for the .10 touney.
I also would try a 1.10 sit and go, they have the 9 player and the 45.

Good luck.

Since you are used to the 90 player SnG, I would try and find something close in the multi-table group. They are $1+$0.20, so you can play four even if you never place. I wouldn't go to ring games if you have not done well in play money ring games; each player has his own best game. I started out real money years ago when Paradise gave me $5. I played low stake limit because that is where I profited. Still playing on their nickle, so to speak.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not sure if I am not good at the cash games, just never play them, been focusing on the freerolls and the 90 player sit and goes to try and learn patience. So far it has been helping a lot with that.

If only I could give them the $5 back and ask for it in another couple of months. :-)

Cheers!

re: Poker Stars has given me $5

Did they send you an email about it? Or did you just randomly login and see it?

don't know if this is accurate, but i read in a blog somewhere that all the winnings and free monies given by the sites can only be withdrawn if you have made a deposit on their site. for example, the said $5. gift, if it was turned into $200. could not be withdrawn form the site. even if you deposited after the money was made.......it had to be deposited before.

if this is true, the site really is not giving players anything. only trying to get them into playing for real money rather than play chips.

low buy-in tournaments are what u can pretty much do . I wouldn't suggest playing 1c/2c with only $5

Shortstacking 10NL ? 1/2c limit ? Best bet is probably above SNG advice though, but sicne it's free money, I might be willing to gamble a bit with it.

I think I will try some 10c and 25c tourneys for now, maybe do a few $1 + 10c satellites for the Sunday 100k and then take the cash.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Added $1 from the Daniel N today to my account

Cheers!

Where did you see this?
Unless it is posted on the site as their policy or as the condition when they give you the money as gift, it's your money and you can do whatever you want with it.

its for accounts that are inactive and i guess this is how they try and get people to deposit more money on the site after trying the 5 dollars out.

If the gift is not "fake",which it probably isn't,they have $1.20 single table SNG's which are easy to beat. The blinds are 10 minutes, and the competition is very weak, for the most part.If you play very tight in the beginning, then loosen up as the rest of the table tightens up,you should do very well in these.Just follow the advice on STT's in the strategy articles from this site. The only downsides are:they take a very long time(which shouldn't be a problem if you are playing freerolls anyway)and you only have a few buy ins.I say go for broke, you got it free anyway, right?

You can make a deposit if you live in the USA, it just isn't easy. See this forum for discussions. Deposit Methods. There are threads on getting freeroll money out of different sites. See the site rules to see what restrictions they put on it. It is better, in general, to have deposited before you win big.

Take your 5 dollars and concentrate on the 1.20 sit n gos this is how I started out on that site. I deposited 20 and turned it into 1 k in about 6 months on there by using the good old 40 xx the bb BR scheme. Yes I might not be rich but I will take 1k from 20 bucks just playing there part time any day of thew week month or year. Best of Luck..

re: Poker Stars has given me $5

Forgot to tell you all this damn thing took 15 days to clear in my bank because so many Fraud checks come out of Canada... I was flipping out and almost began to think it would never clear for awhile but it finally did.

$1 into $1k --- VN!

Not to butt in or anything, but I wouldn't think it's a good idea to post that check up there with those account numbers in there. I could be wrong.
