Poker Stars gave me $5 free

I downloaded their software not too long ago and just haven't played on there much. Yesterday I got an email telling me they loaded me with $5 for free to try out their real money tables.

So I hit the micros and wow! These table are easy. I doubled my money in less than an hour. Is it this way on all the lower stakes?

Also, is this really free money that I can cash out if I turn it into something big or do I have to play so many hands or actually deposit and get it given to me in increments?

PokerStarsPokerStars is one of the best sites to play online poker. They accept all US players & you can get a 100% up to $50 bonus.

Full Tilt PokerFull Tilt Poker is the poker site the pro's play at. US players are welcome - use code CARDSCHAT to get a $600 bonus.

I also received $5 from PS not to long ago. And yes the micro tables are pretty loaded with fish.

I'm not sure about the rules of withdrawing and stuff, but by the time you have built up enough to withdraw I'm sure you would clear any regulations.

I also had this happen to me a while ago and I don't think there's any catches... I usually just use it when i'm tilting on FT because plying micro on PS makes you feel better about your game pretty quick lol. think my PS br is a whopping $10 now.

Nice, I probably play there too much to get free $$.

I think they give you the money for 14 days, not sure what the criteria for keeping the money is.

that is really lucky. I think they expect you to lose, and buy back in eventually. But if you are cleaning up, GOOD JOB! Watch out in micro stakes, make sure you dont let people draw cheaply, because you will get rivered.

Should you be the rags to riches type, you could probably expect to at some point having to deposit a small amount (minimum) in order to withdraw any.

Don't look at this as some sort of scam. All sites need to know who they are dealing with, and the easiest way to get all the pertinent info is to go thru the deposit procedure. Hopefully, they are requiring new depositors to provide proof of who they are, and then withdrawals should be simple from then on.

Good Luck. It can be done!

To withdraw you may have to deposit but I wouldn`t worry about that until you see how long your winning streak lasts. I`m not trying to be mean it`s just that I have gotten free money before and the only time I cashed was when I had like $200.

re: Poker Stars gave me $5 free

I play only freerolls or playmoney on PS and i've not received a penny free... Does anyone knows their policy for this $5 giveaway? Or it's just random?

I was a freeroll and play-money player on FullTilt. My friend got $5 for doing the same thing on PokerStars, so I moved there hoping to get the $5 as well.

I never got the $5.

While at my friend's house he had to step away from his computer so he let me play a few hands. I made him $.50 I think, before blowing it and ending the session down $.20. But it got me hooked on money, and showed me that micro games were beatable.

I eventually deposited $12 with a Visa All-Access card, and had a $42 profit over the weekend, before going into donk-mode when I tried to make an artificial goal of a $50 profit... which busted me in two days.

So manage your $5 well. Don't try to "catch up." Just play solid and endure. Really, with just $5 you are doomed if you hit a cold spell early on.

Now, to continue my story I deposited my remaining $13 from the All-Access card and lost that quick.

However a few months later I deposited $50, determined to play well and play solid. I got a trial version of PokerTracker (which kept me honest... because I hate bad stats being on my permanent record) and read a lot on forums and books (putting three times as much time into reading than I did to playing). I think I only dipped a few bucks below my $50 and a couple points before I hit my stride (figuring out why people I considered to be "donks" kept winning so much when I wasn't) and became a consistent winner after that.

I haven't looked back since.

Keep in mind that the swings at the micro stakes games are going to be big because people are going to be making some unorthodox plays that can really blindside you and take a chunk of you're chips. IE, their crud makes an unpredictable monster.

My advice for playing the micros is to just play a solid TAG (tight/aggressive) game. You don't have to disguise your play too much.
Open with A/Q+. Raise/call with suited connectors or pairs, hoping to hit a monster and busting TPTK (top pair/top kicker). Make a continuation bet 100% of time if there's only one other person in the pot on the flop... unless the flop has something scary (like 2+ face cards) or unless the opponent is a calling station or something like that.

ChuckTs has a good 10k post. Pretty much follow that strategy and you should stay a consistent winner in the micros.

Free money!

Not ALL site will give you FREE TRYOUT money--PS does and they'll also give you 'invites' to certain cash added tournys, ie-'Cerrus invitational and/or sum others---Ultimatebet will give invitations to the same type of tournys. And, yes, it IS free, real money. BUT, most site require you to make at least one real money deposit before yer allowed to cash out. Also, you need to be in so-maney raked pots before you do it too! AND you have to have a certain amount of money invested and won too! Just go to 'Cash-out' rules there under yer account!

Fulltilt gave 5$ cash when I complained about there system going down when I was in a 100 free roll. It was about 4 months ago when they were having problems with there server. I guess that the squeaky wheel does get greased, with money. I would like to know how you get the 5$ on pokerstars. How do they make that decision.

Yeah

on PokerTime you have to end up making a small deposit to get the free money off (unless they changed that rule)...but why not take the $10 free bucks and see where it takes you....

If you turn it into over $100K like I did then you wont mind depositing a few bucks to get it off

Note: When I got free $10 they didnt have rule about deposit and they just gave me the monies

If you start playing they don't care. It's when you download and don't play, they want to get you to use their site. Giving you five dollars is one way to do that.

Actually in order to cash out you will have to meet their requirements, which i am not sure exactly what PS requirements are, but once you find out, i'm sure it won't be much for 5 bucks, but if you do something big with it, it would be a good thing to look up. And also, yes all the micro games are that easy. It is full of i don't care players that are their to lose money, if you want to make easy money, that is a good place to be. But if you want to make good money, you are gonna have to move up in your games and then you will see some good players. Emphasis on SOME. Gl on the felt

Everyone that has opened a pokerstars account and never made a deposit gets a 5 gift from them. But there is a catch. If you don't use those funds quick they take them away.

By the Way.

I had something like that done to me on absolute poker.

I tried to make a deposit from my Credit card and it kept denying and then got an email from Absolute Poker to contact them because the funds were accepted. so i did and then they tried to do it again with no success. and a few weeks later i found a 10 dollar gift in my account.

Yea I've gotten that from Pokerstars, also got 10$ randomly from Ultimatebet a few months ago. Must be they were trying to coerce me to lose that 10 and deposit another 50... but I'm not a big fan of Ultimatebet anymore so that didn't happen. I think Absolute Poker gave me 5$ a few months ago too
