pocket Aces

can some one tell me how they would play pocket aces because im having an arguement with my mate about it.

do you 1} raise alot to make some players fold and only 1 or 2 commit to the
pot

or

do you 2} check or just call then slow play them.

my version is ! as if you do it the way of 2 you have the chance of people hitting 2 pair and so on, so i believe its better to raise alot with them.

what do you guys think????????????

i dont like playing pocket aces rarely win.i,d always be cautious not a very good hand in my opinion

I like to use option #1, but I play all good hands that way for the most part. Sometimes a healthy raise will make some people think you are bluffing. Then you crack them. If you slow play to many people will stay in and your more likley to run across someone who catches 2 pair or a strait.

Pocket Aces are often a big topic on here. I can give you my opinion although I am not a pro poker player. I almost always (95%) of the time bring it in for 4-5 times the big blind. The other 5% I will mix it up to (All in if in tourney play) or just smooth call it. I think the best way to play it is the 4-5 times the big blind way. The others are just to throw the opposition off once in a while. Some people call the big blind with anything so they could easily hit 2 pair like 10's and 4's and other junk hands like that. The mindset of some of these (junk hand players are this) Say they stay with 10, 4 and the flop is 2, 10, 4 well they know you raised 5 times the big blind. That tells them you have about 5 different hands. AA, KK, QQ, AKs, or AQs (sometimes Jacks). They know now that the are favorite over all thes hands escpecially the AK and AQ. Chances are they will all in you right there. To someone sitting with Aces they look like a fool. I would call that with an All in right there. There is no straight draw and I'd be thinking He had Kings or Queens. Just remember one thing you will lose on your aces way more on line then you will in real Games. That has been my experience anyway! I hope I helped in some way.

I'm of the thought to raise poket aces. Slow playing allows too many medicore hands to outdraw you. You have the best hand before the flop play it that way.

Whatever dwindles the field down to 2 callers max, one is best. You want to be heads up with big pockets. Now the only instance where it might be appropriate to slow play aces is against good experienced players who will run for the hills if they sniff a big pocket, do not slow play aces in low stakes online hold'em limit or NL raise the appropriate amount for the game 3-6x blind is about right although a straight all in might get called alot more than it should. Aces will win the vast majority of times played, if played correctly! Players who say they lose more than they win with aces need to learn from their mistakes, there is a reason aces are the best starting hand in hold'em. MOST IMPORTANT LIMIT YOUR COMPETITION!

You have to use your status as best hand when you know it is the best hand, before the flop. 4-5 times the blind sounds about right.

I seem to lose with pocket aces more then win. I try to raise 4 times the BB but it depends on the players I'm playing against. The players you play against(caliber) dictates the way you should play pocket aces.

My opinion is that you have to bet as much as it takes to scare most people off. If it scares everyone off, OK. If not, you'll only be up against 1 or 2 others, which decreases the chance of getting unlucky.

depends what position and how conservitve or tight the players u r with
if u r betting late with multiple callers for minimum bets raise big 2 get dead money and get rid of rift raft .if only a few guys r in withg a medium or above minimum bet i would make a moderate raise to get rid of one if possible but if i got re raised by only one guy i would put him all in

Pocket AAs only win ~90% of the time when heads up. Against a full table, it goes down to the low 30s. There's charts on the net with the exact numbers.

Best is to get heads up with the other player leading out with the betting. Follow him into the pot and smash on the river, if you think you still have the best hand.

My poker book says to bid hard, but not too hard pre-flop. Chances are you won't get better than the Ace pair - and you don't want too many people getting lucky with 2 pair or straights or whatever.

How hard depends on what sort of game you're playing and the feel around the table. Bid too hard, and you'll end up with the blinds, not hard enough - you risk being outgunned.

Depends on how the rest of the table is bettin. On a normal table, I call out of early position, waiting to re-raise. Out of mid-late mosition, I raise 5X the BB.

There's many factors that this involves:

1) How have you been betting? If you've been sloppy you might get more callers then you may want.

2) How is the table betting - are they risky or conservative?

3) What are the blinds? If blinds are 4000/8000 you might just want to steal them to increase how many chips you have by just going all-in pre-flop.

4) How many chips do you have left? This influences how much you NEED to win, if you need to win so badly just take the blinds. Otherwise slow play it a little.

5) I try not to go head-to-head with other big chip leaders because sometimes they call Just steal from the poor.

With pocket As I typically just double big blind and try to squeal out as much money as I can. But I normally start strong so that I have enough chips in case I lose.

I'll raise aces if I'm at a table with a bunch of callers.

Statistically, you can't do any better than being delt pocket Aces. You'd love to have them every hand for the rest of your life!
If you are sure someone will raise ahead of you, definitely consider calling and then reraising a bunch.
The last thing you want to do is have three or four dudes drawing against you cheaply with 5-6 suited and Q-10, etc. There are just too many flush/straight/two-pair possibilities that can kill you. Remember, you wont have a straight or a flush with those aces unless lightning strikes and you get really lucky.
I am forever seeing guys getting cracked because they slow played aces to a guy (or two) who flopped four to a flush, or straight, and got to see more cards for the minimum bet. You gotta make them pay a LOT to play.
Best case scenario is aces against one, maybe two people at max. Three people scare me. Best case for scenario for aces? You catch another ace for trips, right? Well, that doesn't beat the straight or the flush that everyone loves to draw to.

every situation is different but online i suggest to dominate and leave 1 to 2 to pick off. playing live try check and rais, throw players off and play acording to flop,turn and river.

Just had em busted to exit the Paradise Masters. Was shortstacked 4 hrs in. Up against KQ. King hit flop, Queen hit River.
