| Playing online with friends.. So I was wondering what the deal with this is, I have been playing with a friend and I don't see any problems with it but I don't know the rules on it. I don't cheat with friends or anything but I was wondering if it was frowned upon or in the worst case against the rules? |

| Not saying that you 'would' be cheating, but can't honestly say we see many 'cheaters' who would post something like: "I cheat with my friends online. Is there anything wrong with it?" There aren't any rules prohibiting friends from playing together online, but the temptation to cheat is just too much for many to resist. How does anyone know if you and your friend are talking on your cells or using IM, or sitting in the same room on two laptops watching each other's hands? Communication between you and your 'friends' of any kind during play would constitute collusion, and there ARE rules against that. Mostly resulting in closure of the accounts and confiscation of funds. Most poker sites have security measures that recognize irregular play patterns outside the norm of poker standards. It can and does alert their security staffs to the players involved and they will investigate. If you truly just want to 'play poker with your friends' - get a home game going. |

You say 'no communication'. What about us? What if I'm a tiny tourney like last night at UB (let's pretend only 9 people registered), and I'm talking to someone about going to Atlantic City, family, moving? Is that enough evidence for collusion? |

| I've been in a tourney before where three people have openly colluded using chat right where everyone could read it. Extremely uncool. I know a guy who called his brother on his cell, told him what table he was playing at on bodog, and they were going to try and collude, and they got KILLED at the table!!! He told me about it later, all embarrassed, and I told him that's what he deserved for trying to cheat. IMO, cheating at poker is kinda like cheating at golf--you can do it, but it really messes up the game, and if there wasn't any honor and everyone cheated then there wouldn't BE a game anymore. |

I think he means if they notice communication between what seems to be 2 friends and watch their behavior, and notice things like soft playing, or sabotaging other players then they will put 2+2 together, but if your just talking to a buddy there is no problem with that. |

| re: Playing online with friends.. poker good question i have wonder that myself because my girlfriend, step dad and I play in Freeroll tournaments together in same house, so we all would have same/similiar IP adresses (i think) but we are never at same table or anything and def wouldn't cheat (as we all want to win, even last the longest just for bragging rights) but ive wondered if one of us did win if they(any poerk site) would not follow through with prize money. what do you think? |

| MTT's are fine for same household, my husband and I occasionally do it and do not collude, it is fun seeing who can last longer. As for playing with your friends online there is really nothing wrong with that either, I have a friend and we play competitively and he literally gets a kick out of trying to bust me out. |

| Sometimes me and my friends will get 6 people together, put $5 into a pot and take complete control of a 6 person 250 play chip SnG!! If you have a lot of friends who play online this is really fun. Everyone sitting around everywhere with laptiops, and you can always play them if when you re-load some chips. |

| No matter what anyone on here tells you including me I highly doubt it will influence your decision to cheat if you decide to do so. Personally, I would never play with a friend because of the "want to" basically telling them what cards I have. It seems like a natural thing and something I couldnt resist doing. Just like alcoholics dont go to bars, I wouldnt put myself in that situation its just wrong and unfair to everyone else that is trying to play somewhat ethical |

Hahahaha, ya, sorry, worded that a little bit weird. What we do is have everyone buy into a 250 play chip 6 person SnG. It takes a few tries to get everyone at the same table, but when it works its fun because then no one has to deal, the game goes faster and the 1500 chip start is fun. Seperatly, we have everyone put in $5 (not online $5, some good ole Abes). Second place gets the buy in back, first takes the rest. |

| A friend of mine wanted to learn how to play so we both used to play limit poker in the play money section. He used to get so riled up when I beat him. There is no better feeling in the world than taking the money from a close dear friend even if it was just play money. ...and NO we did not tell each other what the hole cards were. What for? I wanted to kick his a$$ to the curb sooooooo baaaaaad. I mean you have NO idea how good it felt when the money when swooooooooosh into MY stack!!!!!! |
