Took a trip up to the big smoke yesterday (dont start my new job until Wednesday - 5 weeks since last did a day's graft!). Went to the Gutshot to play in the 2pm £20 Freezeout MTT. Played for 2 1/4 hours - took hour and a half to get my first pair (8's), and only got one other pair (3's) which i couldn't play due to 2 re-raises. The standard of play was fair-to-middling - the best players on the table seemed to be the first one's out (apart from me of course

) mostly taken out by a girl who got aces, kings, queens, jacks, nines and fives in the first hour

). Got to the break with about 2,000 chips, winning the 3 hands i played (2 of which were total bluffs, just to play a hand and hopefully get some action when i did get a hand

). Played q2s (diamonds) after the flop - flopped top pair on a 3 clubs board and went all-in - called by guy with 2nd pair and flush draw which hit on the turn. Only had 350 chips left with blinds at 100/200, ended up pushing them all-in under the gun without even looking at them, and tripled up when my J2 hit a jack. Still at the mercy of the blinds though - pushed in for 3 straight rounds, but got called 3rd time by pocket Jacks and didn't hit flush card i needed to survive.
The Club run the game very slick (though each table had 3 or 4 players that took responsibility for divvying up pots and sorting procedure). I left behind some very poor players, so it's definately winable, so maybe i'll have another visit soon - you can hire tables, so would seemingly be an ideal venue for a UK Cardschat get together.
