play online with friends, skip rake

Hi all,

I'd like to play texas holdem with a friend, then split the money afterwards in person without paying rake.

I keep finding sites where I have to beg for chips, sites where the games are in essence public instead of private. Also I cannot find a single site where I can set the game parameters, e.g. the time after which the blinds are increased.

Please let me know if there's such a thing.

Well online sites make their money from Rake so I dont think you will find a proper pokersite thats going to not charge you rake. You can find free sites, but then there is no money at the end to split.

Just use your regular accounts and play for "play" money, then divide it up in person.

Poker sites make their money from rake, and if you're using their services, then you should pay a rake. I mean, it really isn't that much...

You can make a play money game and then split the real money after you are done. It be the easyest way without having to do a rake.

And what else would you like Santa to bring you this year, Or maybe the Easter Bunny might make this possible for you next year.
Rake is a fact of life, you dont get anything for nothing.

If the rake bothers you, you can always join a site where you get some of it back. There are several "rakeback" sites out there. You get a percentage of the rake you paid to the poker room credited back to your account. Also, some poker rooms like Full Tilt host private games, but you may need an affiliate to set it up....

Someone's always trying to get something for nothing.... Probably the same type of person who is pushing for Universal Healthcare in the US too(didn't mean to make the post political, but it makes me mad...)

In the UK we have had a National Health Service since the end of world war 2.

We, as indeed most civilised nations do, believe that a fair and just society should take care of its sick in their times of need. Its not about wanting something for nothing, its about realising that a society is not simply a collection of unconnected individuals.

You have put your health care out to the private sector and now pay more than almost anyone else in the world for it. The sums of money thrown around for medical procedures in the US are simply ridiculous and its been caused by the lack of government regulation on such an essential service. So you are not being disadvantaged by Universal Healthcare, you are being disadvantaged by private health care.

Join Myspace or Facebook. Add the Zynga texas hold 'em app to your profile, you can create private rooms on these sites that are password protected. :-)

yea man idk if you are doing this u might as well get cards and poker chips u can buy a card and poker chip set for like $8 then you can learn reads and play in person it gives a lot more experience

Hmm, I dunno it'll help your heads up game, but playing HU with your friend let alone strangers you see some crazy plays.

Yeah you shouldn't have made it political, that is one of the dumbest posts I have ever read on this site, show me a country where Universal health care does not work? Look at france, canada, and most of europe, do you see a problem? Stop listening to those big business health insurance companies forcing lies into your brain.
