..full tilt do offer omething like this...of coruse there are just normal playchips///and you only start with 1000
but everynight there is a freeroll, worth 40 dollars..18 people getpaid, 1st gets 5, 2nd get 3, and 3rd-18th get 2 dollars....real money

its 500000 play chips, it sounds rediculous, but its not that hard to get, im up to about 12,000,000...and there are generally onyl about 50 in this tourney, so its easy enough to get into the money...

Yes this is 100% true. Full tilt chips often sell for between $3-$5 a mil. Pokerstars often sell for between $8-$10 per mil. And yes, there is also the $40 freeroll where you can buy in for 500k on full tilt and its extremely easy to make the pay.

What are you playing to accumulate your play chips? SNG's ? .. "cash" tables (play chips) ?

I made a feeble attempt, and up to a whopping 6K at the moment

I was playing the 90 player SNG's, shove the first hand or two, as everyone else is too, and hope to start off with a quick 20k stack. Did that for a day or two, but got bored.

Now I figure it will take as long to make the 500k as it does to play in the 2700 man freerolls anway.

Does PokerStars have any tournaments that pay real $$, that you can enter with playchips ?

I see they have play chip tourneys where you can win play chips.

Never played the FTP 500K playchip tourney, but it took me along time to earn my 2M chips. Since I've been playing for real money I haven't gone back to the play chips...

I am thinking of doing a challenge in December involving play chips on PokerStars.

$100,000 to $10,000,000 playing SnG's

Do you think this is possible?

Of course its possible.
But would be much easier on Fulltilt.
I think the biggest playmoney SnG's on Stars are 200k, whilst on FT its 1M.

re: Play money for real money poker

I tried playing the "Play money" i find it very because it has not real value. Work out how much 1000 play chips are worth....

Just find it really really hard.....

Never heard of

I know Full tilt has a tournament where it costs 500k play chips and it's a 40$ freeroll where i believe 18 players win 2$ and top 2 win 3$. Usually only a few enter it too. Also, i know there are sites that do exchanges, 1M play chips for lets say 4$. Many sites buy play chips then resell them for more. I never heard of the actual site buying the play chips from the players.

the road to millions doesnt have to be that long. check this thread out. i've won over $20 in the 500K $40 freerolls. with that and another ~$9 from CC freerolls and a few other freerolls I was on my way. I got over $750 now in winnings/bonuses.

Yep, the playchips sites definately around for PS and FTP. Yet, for the life of me I don't know why people would pay for playchips

I don't get it, why would people want to buy the play chips? Is it the poker site buying them from you? Or another player? Hopefully the site because I don't get why anybody would buy play chips.

re: Play money for real money poker

people buy them for the kids. i know when i was learning the lowest levels of playchips the play was horrible. i'm not sure if there's a huge market for them. but know i've been offered some good money for them(probably a scam). if you rail the bigger playchip tourneys and ring games you actually see people beg for them.

500,000 points to play a $40 prize pool tourney? Wow, that's exciting. You may as well just dig around in the couch for loose change.

Playing No Limit with play money is completely useless. It's an all-in fest. The limit, pot limit and SnG's are quite so bad; you might actually learn something there. But try to make the jump to real money as soon as possible. You can pick up some really bad habits with play money.

Just my $.02

AFAIK, Selling play chips, and i know it is on Full Tilt Poker, is 100% Illegal, as the only way to do it is to chip dump which is against site rules. Just thought id let you know because you dont want to get into trouble

pokerstars actually allows tranfers of playchips. and although it's against the rules to sell them little is done to stop it AFAIK.

If this was true I could easily make 100$/hr, playing play money on FullTilt.

Wow! Doing the math, assuming $5 per million play money, that means that you could win 20 million play chips per hour.

Not to sound like a skeptic, but I'd like to see this done.

On a sustained basis.

Update

Well after reading this post awhile back I started to look around on Full Tilt...

There was one night that you could "Play A Pro" with a buy-in of 4.5k in playchips... It was a 9 man SNG with a payout of a $26 tourney dollar token... Sweet... unfortunately I only had 2.5k in play chips (don't know how, musta been from way back in the day) and I didn't want to have my friends come and "chip dump" their play chips to me on the tables... Collusion is against Full Tilt Policy and results in a ban!

Also.... the Fergusson freeroll at 22:10 EST is pretty cool... its a 2700 people MTT and the top 100 get $1 Tourney Dollar... you can keep it or use it to get into the Fergusson game at 1:00 EST...

So looks like playchips (for those of you who don't have the means of depositing or can't win freerolls) have a shot at some form of real money from these chips...

Haven't looked into PokerStars or any other site... Got sick of em... Just play on Tilt and sometimes FullRush now...

My Two Cents,
Moe

Carbon poker also runs a 3-step single table SNG for a tournament dollar. You purchase a step 1 ticket for 250 play chips. Win the step 1 and get to step 2, win step 2 get to step 3, win step 3 and you get 1 tournament dollar.

being honest, i laughed alot when "only bridge" said he could make 100$ per hour...i know its play chips, and its full of donks...but if your making 5 million play chips an hour on a regular basis, then ivey wouldnt stand a chance...no slagging, but realistic writing please...

Well, I dont know, but its not like its difficult to win play chips.
I sometimes do that when I feel out of shape, and are too tired to concentrate.
I usally play hu SnG, or PLO8.
Haven't played them too serious, but you guys are probably right. Once u start winning that big you will probably more or less kill the action.
