Opinions on Full Tilt Avatars

I wrote this thread out of boredom. My roommate and I were playing and when he was playing sng, he was fooling around with avatars. He told me in a humorous way "why is full tilt avatar racist? For asian guy, they only have asian geek who looks like nerd(my roommate is Korean btw)" I think I kinda agree with my roommate that full tilt did make stereotypic icon of asian nerd. but we were just coming up with ideas of avatars. we were thinking full tilt should add more avatars and wish they can add the following:

sad expression (since they only have normal, happy, angry, confused)
Cat
Hiphoper
tiger
Rabbit
better asian male avatar
panda
seal
islamic person with headscarf
Zorro

What are your opinions on full tilt avatars? I want to expand ideas and list of possible avatars. I wish full tilt can make more avatars.

Pretty sure they already have a panda. A big goofy looking one.

I set mine when I first signed up and haven't really thought about it since.

There stupid avatars are one of the main reasons that I don't play much at Fool Tilt, I can't stand the look of their site, it is too childish IMHO.

I wish they would have a way that your avatar could look like you. Have a picture convert it like they do for the pros.

I doubt that they are racist by any means being they have all different races of people that are pros on the site & widely attract people from around the world but I know what youre saying kind of lol .. I think they should add a few more avatars myself, some of these have been mentioned already but a rabbit, butterflies, and some fruit like cherries, strawberries, grapes and oranges lol .. Those aren't racist at all lol

Real players hide the avitars on all sites, but they make sure that where they can, a CC avitar is there.

hee hee my roommate and I were joking about the racist thing although they do have asian geek avatar as the only asian male avatar. I'm just getting bored of avatars I see everytime i play on full tilt. they should come up with new avatars although i'm always going to be a silly, menacing froggy who can't stand still.

LOL - I mustn't be a real player then.

I don't find the goofiness of them distracting, and I actually find they help a little with recall.

i agree with the recall factor...also, sometimes you can get a better read by the emotion they choose....i love a smiling guy get hit with a bad beat, turn angry, all in pf next hand with a micro stack...

also on this topic i've noticed a slight generalization...

loose passive - martini guy, panda, atm's

loose agressive - donkeys, chickens, dobermans

TAG's - ninjas, cowboys

NIT's = knomes, puppy's

Likwe someone said b4 recall, I basically only play CC games there and I am used to the avatars that the CC regs use.

But come to think about it I may just turn them off, thanks for the idea Debi.

While it'd be nice if they offered that feature, I can see why they don't.

If they allow everyone to use their own image, they've gotta host them and one assumes they have to police them as well to make sure they're not offensive. With their current system there's no need for policing and they can include the avatars in the software updates so they're hosted on your hard drive (which also cuts down on load times, FWIW).

I always wanted to see a big steaming pile of poo with a couple of flies buzzin around avatar.
I would only use it when hung over.

Welcome to cardschat.
You need to rethink your position. I've changed emotions on my avitar purposefully to be something other than what I'm thinking. I also do it with Carbon and the silly smiles... Its all part of the game, and if you put any influence on your game because of avitars and emoticons - you will lose money very quickly.

Haven't seen any goths, but there's definitely a godfather-style gangster one. Or at least that's what I see when I look at the one with the guy in the white suit.

You're joking right? Because of the goofy avatars you don't play much on Fulltilt? Why don't you just turn them off then?

I've jumped from avatar to avatar but try to pick one that is fairly 'neutral',... in other words >> one that doesn't indicate or lead to a perception of what my playing style might be (I've actually read some articles regarding 'online tells' and there was a section about 'avatars'... and also one that was specific to Fulltilt avatar selection... ie. the avatar with the slicked 'Elvis-like' do... is often selected by Lag-type players... there is some merit to this.. check it out... also.. the 'Doberman'... overly aggressive spewy-type players... <<< these aren't my own personal findings but were actually the results of some research done... pretty boring stuff, lol.. but does have some merit in some cases, albeit minute at best).
I tend to pick the same avatar that some of the top MTT players I notice are using (it's no accident that I use same avatar as AJKHoosier1, NEONPILS, da_professional, titantom,... LOL ).

I actually don't mind the avatars on Fulltilt... far better than the stuff you see on Titan or Doyles.

All of the avatars suck. The presentation is still better than pokerstars though lol. My favorite avatar is a shark though. Wish they had like an alligator or lion.
