Are they hard to win? Ive entered oen and it took forever.

I entered two 4000 people tournaments and I came in 8th the first time and 18th the second time. The tournaments lasted about 3 hours and 45 minutes. They are pretty easy to finish good as long as you have good hands, lol. If you dont get hands, you wont stand a chance..

I won a 6000 entrant tourney and it took just over 5 hours

A 500 took 5 hours on pokerchamps, came in second, a 45 sng on pokerstars takes a good 3 hours.

Hi - Don't get me wrong, I have fun playing freerolls. But, these posts are the exception. YES, they are hard to win. I've placed several times and feel the hours of playing are not worth the prize. Note that there are many more losers than winners. Don't want to burst any bubbles, but you will lose many more freerolls than win.

Use freerolls to practice and sharpen your poker skills and have fun playing, not win the $2.00 for 10th place or?? If you want to win real money, add some cash to your poker account and play mini tourneys of say 10 players. You have a greater chance of winning, the prize money is bigger, and the time spent to win that prize shorter. JMO

Have fun playing freerolls and dont deposit or play for real money until you do ok in these. I mean unless you can get placed in freerolls you wont have much chance of placing in real money tourneys.

I won a few and got placed then moved up, and am doing quite well. But use those freerolls, they are free but they are invaluable

They can be difficult to win consistently. Usually the bigger the field the more luck you need to win.

I myself really don't play the big field tournies. Just don't have the patience for them.

1000 is about my limit. Less is even better to a point. If they get to small then you really have to be on your best game. A lot hard to recover from a mistake.

Now sometimes big tourneys can go fast. Most times though it can take many hours to finish. Another reason I don't play them. Even if you do come in first and snag a nice prize. Say $50. You have to question whether is was for the 8 hours you spent playing it or not.

I won a 4 million person torunament, took about 30 days of nonstop playing, won over 10 million dollars, wasnt too hard

on a 4000 peple on avg should talk anywhere 3hrs and a half or 4hrs

I really wouldn't approach freerolls with anything more than the intention to practice my game and have some fun. Anyone who is looking at freerolls from a profit standpoint doesn't place much value on their time. The exception would be the occasional special promotion freeroll with an unusually large prize pool added by the site. You'll find the odd $2500 or $5000 freeroll from time to time. Those are worth serious attention, as the top five spots pay relatively well.

I will say this to the beginning players...beware of the ill effects playing too many freerolls can have on developing your game. People don't play the same with no money at risk as they do when there's real cash to be won or lost. You will either develop the same bad habits as the all-in maniacs & calling stations, or get discouraged when your reasonable moves are frequently shot down by lucky players who chase anything resembling a hand. Play money tables and freeroll tournaments are all well and good to learn the fundamentals and mechanics of online poker. But you are getting a funhouse mirror view of the game if that's all you ever see. Take them with a grain of salt.

Definetly agree with crimson couldnt of told it too much better. unfortunatly I Do not have a credit card nor a bank account and all money I have online has been won in freerolls. so that is where my roots have come from and when I took the money to a 9 person money game once again my play needed to be adjusted

RAMMER.....perfect advice. I learned that the hard way, you do not, in fact CAN NOT play a real money game the way you do a freeroll...Unless you intend to go broke in the first 15 minutes....Alright Rammer,
