Hi magoo, A great place for beginners to play online is Royal Vegas Poker, they offer a bonus of up to $100 when you deposit, they match what you put in. I've heard nothing but good things about this place.

www.pokerstars.com also has the option of playing for fake money, it's great for trial and error although people bet crazy because they know it's not real money involved

A good way to find easier card rooms is to go to the online casinos first. They're ususally full of people that like to gamble a lott, instead of people who like to compete at poker. The people are a little easier to beat than at a purely poker site (i.e. Paradise poker, Ultimate Bet, ect.) just because they are more interested in the excitement of winning money than taking it from you by making the right move. I've made quite a bit on Pacific poker (it's part of www.888.com casino). Just be carefull, I've heard of a lott of horror stories about online casinos.

That always happens, so learning through playing with fake chips is really hard, as playing with real money is totally different. |

re: Online Poker The horror stories I've heard don't have anything to do with the game being fixed. From what I understand the games themselves are almost always legit. The horror stories I've heard are from people playing for money and doing really well. Then, when it's time to cash out everything looks great (complete with "checks in the mail" emails) from the site, but the check never shows. If you're at the wrong site and they decide not to let you cash out, there's really not much you can do, since most of the online casinos are based in other contries. I read a story about a guy who has been going round and round with automated systems for and online joint for months and still hasn't seen his check, and good luck getting our government to go to bat for you with an offshore internet company.

I don't see why those online poker sites even stay open. If that happened to me, I would blab about it to the other people that are playing the game at that site so no one visits it anymore.

The best advice I can give after playing online for years, most of those weren't for money though. I like bugsyclub they have lots of freeroll tournaments for points which you can use to enter other tournaments for actual money. Its slightly different to cash games but you will find them a lot more competative as there is something to win. Also a lot of the prima poker sites have plenty of freerolls though registration fills up really quickly from what i remember. Or the other thing to do is play on the sites that have micro limit tables. Final bit of advice I can give you is to FOLD FOLD FOLD, unless you have the nuts (best possible hand) you will often find bluffs don't work, if you don't have the goods or your starting cards are weak then don't play them.

Folding most hands is the way to win, especially at the low limits never bluff cause people will call you with stuff as bad as ace high when you have the nuts (best possible hand) raise as much as you can as people will call it anyway playing at low limits you just go through the motions, bet with the best fold with the rest, players at that level are either not sophisticated enough to notice your bluffing or the amount to call is too small for them to worry about losing it even on the $3/6 limit tables some players will still play this way, you have to pay attention to how people are playing, smarter players are capable of folding hands, ergo you can bluff them, do it too much though and they will lose any respect for your cards and start calling you with marginal hands having said that you can still make profit just playing the best hands folding the rest at this level, it can get boring but thats the way to play if you want to win patience and disipline are your friends here

I agree with not bluffing in low limits. Unless you've seen your opponent act smart and fold, it is almost safe to assume that he is a kamikaze in low limit. That means anything bet under a dollar he will probably call. Almost all the players in low limit are like this. If youre patient and wait, you can drain almost all of their money on one hand.
