Online Cheaters!!!

Hi,

I recently played with a gentlemen online who told me that the cheat software out there does work to a certain extent! Supposedly the person who purchases this software can see two players whole cards and the flop before it comes up! I do not know if he is truthfull or not ,but I have seen the so called software advertised online and really hope that others are not cheating out there. It really makes me think twice about playing for money online. If you have any feedback about this topic please reply I would enjoy to know what you know about ,or think about this!!!

Later and GL to those desperately trying to win a seat to the W.S.O.P,

The way that online poker works is this:

Multiple endusers (you, me and other folks around the world) load a software application (BoDog, PokerStars, etc) onto you local machine. This is the "client application". When you run the software, it logs into a server run by the site.
At the start of the hand the server randomly shuffles the deck and sends the a "Starting hand number xxxxxxx" to the client applications. It then sends the "this guy is the button", "this guy is the small blind", and "this guy is the Big blind" commands out to all the client appications (my screen, your screen, their screens).

Now the server sends "Your Hole cards" command to each client seperately through their "Socket connection". The way that networking works, you could "sniff" the packets sent from the server to the clients but ONLY packets which are sent to you and to any client who connect THROUGH you or AT THE SAME LEVEL as you to the server. If you think of a tree, the server is the "trunk". Where the trunk branches is the poker sites ISP. Each switch in the "internet" is a Y in the branches, each Y further splits into more Y's until until we get all the way out to the end clients. If your computer was "on site" with the server you could sniff all the hole card packets.....but this would mean that you are running a computer inside BoDog or Stars etc. If you were running a computer at say the local comcast "head end", you could sniff more than just your hole cards, but ONLY hole cards for players that are playing on a connection through that local comcast network...hole cards packets for players playing on OTHER local to them comcast networks would NOT be visible to you. If you are running the computer from within your house you could sniff hole card packets BUT ONLY for OTHER PLAYERS WITHIN YOUR HOUSE!!....And most sites WILL NOT let two computers from the same location play at the same table!!!! They DO NOT want you and your buddy to play at a table with others because you could "work together" to take their money!!!!

As far as the flop goes, that is NOT SENT until the betting is complete...the "deck" exists ONLY in memory of the server...so clearly any software claiming to "show you the flop before you bet" is absolute BS

Trust me, I am a software developer and I play online for money...if I thought there was a way to cheat and for others to see my hole cards I WOULD NOT PLAY!!!!!

its trojan horse software...

Ive seen it demonstrated...... but to be the one who is cheated you must be sent or download the .exe software and run it on your machine without knowing it. suppose i had the software and sent it to you, if it got by your virus software and you installed it without knowing it, then when i was sitting at a table with you , I would be able to see your hole cards in a window that looked like the table window we were playing at. there would be 2 windows on my screen the one i am playing with you, and the one you are looking at on your machine. I would have the advantage of seeing what is happening on your window. not what the flop would be and not what the other players have. so i would have to find you in a game to cheat against you. even someone dumb enough to let this software through would soon figure out, "hey this guys keeps beating me as if he knows what my cards are" and he would not play when the cheater was at his table. There are some dumb players out there, maybe dumb enough to let this happen. but if they are that dumb you don't need cheating software to win against him.

I agree that it would be impossible to see the board cards before they fall because they aren't chosen by the randomizer until they fall.

I am prepared to take the heat from all who think I'm mad ...... so Bring it!!

the software you're talking about now is nothing more than your average skript kiddie trojan. has nothing to do with poker. you can use the same software to hijack a bank account, disrupt a MSN conversation, etc.

I have been looking for some answers on this subject and this post was extremely helpful. I posted questions on fulltilt and railbirds but nobody knew what they were talking about or made a lame joke about how they could see my cards.

This is accurate, true and very well explained.

In addition it is much more complicated to sniff a switched network to begin with, as with a switched network, information is not automaticly sent to all ports as it is with a hub like you might have at home.

Is it possible for someone to make this all work? Yes (less than equal the odds of getting a Royal Flush twice in a row) IMHO

Would you bet $100,000 with the person to your left that they don't get a Royal Flush twice in a row during the current session? YES!!!!!!!!!

Then don't think for a moment that someone has mastered this.

Just my thoughts

'cheat' software is nothing more than 'bot' programs that, after using it and setting play parameters, analyzes your pocket cards and bets graduated pre-programmed amounts against probable opponents.

profits can be made, but only after extensive play-programming and setting the bot on auto-pilot for multiple games.

the profits are generally small and bots can be randomly detected by alert admins

if you have ever played a $10 hand-held poker game, you have experienced 'bot' play... if the bot is in an underground bunker at Stanford, you have a problem... if it's a normal idiot who bought it from a web-site, it is nothing more than a pc-donk

It is worth reminding people of the main point here.

The adverts you see are nothing more than 'get rich quick' scams.

"Make $1000's online using our cheat software for $49.99", translates directly to "this software doesnt work or exist", for very obvious reasons.

The thing is much simpler.

Let everybody answer to oneself:
If you made such a program, would you be an idiot and sell it?
