One of Oldest Sites...PokerRoom.com shuts down

Opened in 1999 PokerRoom.com was closed today by its owner bwin. The site was one of the most recognized names in the online poker world and grew as a favorite of many during the Moneymaker boom times.

Players can transfer balances over to bwin.

Part of the Ongame Network, PokerRoom never seemed to recover from its massive loss of players after UIGEA was passed by Congress and it withdrew from the market.

I believe Ongame is currently the 5th largest Online Poker Network

Oh really, I have about $800 there, but have not played there for about 3 or 4 months (since I bought a new computer). Will now have to log in and try to get my funds out. Thanks for the heads up.

A friend of mine had %50 in his pokerroom account and was told to login and withdraw it so he logged in but could not withdraw it and now he cant login at all so he has written it off.

I hope all other who have with pokerroom can get there money out.

This pokerroom has been around for a long long time.
Does anybody know what the actual number one poker site in the world is? obviously its gotta be pokerstars or fulltilt right? no way ultimate bet, doyles room, carbon, or playersonly can be number 1 or 2 can they. Just curious as to which one is officially the number one site to play on. Ongame is 5th and ive never even heard of it lol so who knows what number 1 is. i'm gonna guess pokerstars
