Omaha H/L... How do you do the L?
I tried a couple of games of Omaha Hi/Lo on PokerStars but I just do not understand how the Low Hand is made... Sometimes, it just says : There is no Low hand. How is that possible? Myself and the opposite player didn't have the same hand so shouldn't there be a lower one? Please help me, I am really trying to improve my game.

Right, seated comfortably, then I will begin
The low hand (this applies to stud hilo as well) you have to have 5 cards that are 8 or lower. They all have to be seperate, ie no pairs. Straights and flushes do not count. The lowest low is worked out from the highest of your 5 lowest cards. Then you go down the 5 cards comparing second lowest to second lowest etc. So the lowest low is A2345 (remember straights don't count). If both people (or more) have the same then they split that half of the pot. A quick example: Player A has A4568 Player B has 23568 You compare the highest of the cards first, both have 8, so you go to their second lowest card. Again the both have a 6, then the third, both have 5. Now when we get down to the 4th card Player B has a 3 compared to Player As 4. So that means Player B would win the low part of that hand. If any of that is not clear than just ask. If it all makes sense then could you just respond letting me know if it was any use. Good luck on the tables with that new found info ;] |

I think Grumble could explain it better than myself, but to be a low hand there must be 5 playable cards that are 8 or lower in value (8,7,6,5,4,3,2,A).
So in omaha, you have to have 3 cards 8 or below plus 2 cards 8 or below from your hand. Also, pairs don't count. So if you made a pair of 8's then both can not count towards the low. Hope that helps. |
