Not sure about Poker Stars anymore I've been noticing a gradual decline in standards at PS lately, regarding their questionable allowances. For the past couple of weeks, I have been at cash and tourney tables where players would continuously not speak in english and use profanity. After being warned by the mod, the players would go tell the mod off several times. The mod would have some funny reply and leave. Players are taunting PS staff at chat and nothing is being done. Several have emailed support and got no proactive response. It is getting harder to avoid unruly players. Then, I hear PS has reinstated Justin Bonomo, the biggest online cheat next to Russ Hamilton. What the hell is going on ? At this rate, I will be playing exclusively at Full Tilt.

We don't always see what goes on behind the scenes. The very few times I've seen this happen where they challenge the moderator, yes, the mod goes away, but so does the observer, shortly thereafter. I bet their chat was blocked and closed. Mods will never tell you what action they are taking, they just do it. The more people worldwide who join online poker, the more there will be who try to use their native language when they can. That's what the 'call moderator' button is for. Stars is still light years ahead of any other site in player support. Report a chat problem on FT and you might get the automated reply soon enough, but their direct action times are very slow, imo.

I have learned that the selection of PS chat mods is not very selective. Some may be very dilligent and some may be lax. They basically work for FPP's, etc. And I know for a fact that many are known by PS only online, not in person. So I would imagine that the turnover for that job is pretty high. I'd say to keep reporting that stuff to the PS mods and see if you get one who will lay the lumber. And keep emailing support every so often. If they see it as a big enough problem, they may instruct their mods to be more strict.

re: Not sure about Poker Stars anymore They work for fpps? You're saying chat mods are just players that help out in return for some bonuses? I thought pokerstars employees were only allowed to play in special events set aside for them...are the chat mods not the same?

It was over a year ago that he did this. So the chat mod program may have changed, but I bet not much. And BTW, he quit a couple months into it after he quit serious poker. |
