no UB and Absolute simultaneously?

So over the past 2 years or so I have been playing exclusively at FT & PS. Mostly PS this year. I had played and still had names at a few other sites previous to this though including UltimateBet and Absolute (back when they were not affiliated with each other). So today I felt adventerous and figured I would branch back out and re download Ultimatebet and absolute. Now I am unable to run these two programs at the same time. They both work fine by themselves just not together. Does anybody else have this problem or have you heard of this? Or is the problem somewhere on my end?

It's not really a 'problem'. They are on the same network. All networks i.e. Cake, Merge, etc. operate that same way. You cannot pick a different screen name and log into both. It's one account per IP address allowed access to the network, I believe.

Oh ok this makes sense. They did also make me change my name on one of them too because they were the same. Which made me mad because my name is Hambone8705 for EVERYTHING I do online. So now its Hambone87_05 on absolute (BOOOOOOO!!!!).

I had to do that too with Players Only and Poker World awhile back too. You cannot have the same name at both sites. And I was vague about this before, but I believe the reason you cannot be logged into both is that their freerolls (and MTTS & SNGs & cash games(????)) are shared. So if, for instance, you are in a 3000 person freeroll at Poker World, of that registered list, many may have logged in through Players or another site within that network. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've never looked that carefully at what was being offered at the same time. I also used to play at Ultimatebet and Absolute simultaneously before the merge.

So I'm in the 4:15 freeroll on Ultimatebet. Dive's theory that the tourneys are shared got me curious so I sacrificed a couple of hands and closed out of Ultimatebet and got into Absolute and found a matching tourney!! I scroll through the players list and THERE I AM!! So there you go PROOF!!

That's good to know about Absolute Poker & Ultimate Bet. I have both, but have only used Ultimatebet so far. Thanks for the information!

when they merged, I had to change my username and my email adddress on absolute. It took about 3 weeks to get it right but all is well now. And, you cannot run them at the same time on the same computer. You can run them at the same time on 2 different computers. I don't know if you can register for the same tourney though.

I just signed up at Reefer Poker and realized that them and Carbon Poker are affiliated and also share the same tournaments. That makes me curious how many sites are there like this? How many different sites can not be run simultaneously and share tournaments. This concept is very new to me as I said I have been playing pretty exclusively at FT & PS since all these new poker rooms and merges and have not run into this until today.

Thanks for the list, Savage! Brings me to this question, tho - So lets say for instance cake - would all of thoses sites on cake basically be duplicates as far as the games are concerned? Or would it only be maybe guarantee games & Added money games?

There are around 14 sites in total on the merge network, each has there own exclusive games and share 'regular' games. Private games are individual to each site, it is possible to open 2 at the same time on the same computer if you time it right.

I'd assume that all of the S&G's and cash games are a conglomeration of all of the sites. For example, I played a cash game on UltimateBet and some steaming, "That is why I hate Absolute Poker!"

However, the special games are going to be site specific. Private games are site specific (you can't play CC or OFC UltimateBet games on Absolute Poker).

I assume most of the big games (like the weekly guaranteed games) are site specific too.

Well Ultimatebet has better bonus sytem than Absolute Poker; all cash game regs I know have moved over to Ultimatebet. And SP, cash games are different each site, u r playing at one or the other, Some players go back and forth hence the confusion, but a cash table at one is not mirrored on the other, and u dont get a cash table with half Ultimatebet and half Absolute Poker players for example.
