New Jersey to become first state to have legal online gambling It passed the vote yesterday and now is awaiting signature from the governor. Been reading some threads at 2+2 and it seems there is nothing in the bill that would make it illegal to play on Stars or Tilt. As somewhere there said.....New Jersey just opened our very own Fish Market.

The States should have the power and hopefully that is what will happen here. I am mostly interested in how this affects my ability to play on the current sites. Seems way different than the federal law that was being proposed where there was no way we were gonna be staying there. |

NJ passed a law that you can play on foreign gaming sites operating in the US market (ie - Tilt/Stars), or you will have to play on NJ owned and regulated sites? I didn't think it was ever illegal to play on the sites, only financial institutions were banned from transferring money to and from these sites (ie - the UIGEA).

Do you think professional players move from location to location to feed off the fish? Just curious. I heard people moved to Florida for the live fish. Because I now wonder if pros will move to Jersey just to play (given that their IP will register from NJ). Don't know how much this fuels the pros, but am very curious.

re: New Jersey to become first state to have legal online gambling poker Some linkage; http://www.parttimepoker.com/new-jersey-assembly-passes-online-poker Not nearly as simple as it first appears. NJ casinos can set up online games, and how far as that goes is the real question.

Fair enuf, we don't know who part time poker is, so here is the text of the bill. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bi...00/2570_S1.HTM In the first few lines it states that the equipment, i.e. servers, routers, etc, must be onsite at a casino (in a back room). While I didn't read past those first few lines (I live in California and could give a shit) I would imagine that the government of NJ and the Casino's there are great bed buddies. So a snakey lawyer will have buried something in that document which will preclude the already established sites, FT, PS, etc, from ever getting a foothold. California will probably follow just because there is a penny to be made.
