Need advice on LA Calif area card rooms/casinos Need some info on where in the LA, Calif area there are some of the Indian casinos, especially if they have a card room. Need to take someone to at least one of them when I visit LA next month. I'm the card player, but they only do slots ( ), so need some recommendations with both options. Even just a casino without a room would be OK, but I'd like to have something to do while they push the buttons. We won't have time to drive to Vegas (or even Stateline), so some recommendations in the SoCal area would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'm from L.A., but moved before I discovered poker. I haven't been to any of these places, but I'll give my second-hand advice. My recommendation is the Commerce Casino (my wife's BFF's favorite) which is the biggest and has the most tables so you're going to get the best variety there. The next biggest is the Bicycle Casino. Hollywood Park Casino has about half the tables as the Commerce. When I was in L.A. last November there were a lot of advertisements for the new Hustler Casino. I remember their ads for some sort of live, computer poker. That is, you at stations so you can see everybody you're playing against, buy you play electronically on your own personal touch-screen monitor. Weird. I haven't heard of anybody going there and trying it out though.

Well the problem is that you want poker AND slots. That really cuts your options down. Commerce and Hawaiian Gardens are poker only. I think that Hollywood Park might have slots, but can't remember. I have never been to Bicycle or Hustler but i believe they are both slot free. I know that both Morongo (on the way to Palm Springs) and Pechanga (in Temecula) have both slots and poker rooms and both are absolutely fantastic. Classy places, good poker rooms, plenty of slot and table play. Unfortunately if you are in the "heart of LA" both of these would be quite a drive.
