| National Pub Poker League If you havent seen ads around where you live you can check out their website at nationalpubpokerleague.com. Normally done at clubs, or sports bars this outlet is a great way to learn poker. It is totally free and you are just playing for points and meeting others who like to play poker. Supposedly you can trade in points for t-shirts caps, and some big ticket items. In my area they have two sessions a night wherever they are playing one at 7pm and one at 10pm. In Knoxville if you win a nightly tourney you get a seat at a regional, win regional and you go to an online tourney 10 man table, win that and youve gotten yourself into the WSOP for absolutely nothing except time. Ive been four times and have had a great time. There are plenty of new players each night so beginners dont feel nervous about showing up. There are people there who can help explain the game and how its played. Hope this helps anyone out there looking for some fun poker action. Last edited by schavin : 25th May 2005 at 3:27 AM. | Hey, Schavin. I'm from just down the road from you in Pigeon Forge. Good to see another local at Cardschat. (Can you believe a lot of these guys think you play "football" in t-shirts and short britches?) How about shooting me a private message to give me the details on the Knoxville pub league location(s)? I knew there was weekly tourney activity at some of the K'town bars, but haven't tried to hunt them down yet. |

| Schavin, I opened a membership on the NPPL this morning. When I went to look at the 2005 Points Standings for the Knoxville region, I only saw three players listed with the minimal 1-tournament 50-point total each. This is what all registered NPPL members get just for showing up and playing. Since there are about 20 tourneys on the schedule each week, that obviously doesn't add up. What gives? Are the tournaments shown on the schedule simply establishments in the area which host weekly poker tournaments, with or without NPPL involvement? Anyone can play whether they're a registered member of the NPPL or not? Or are these Knoxville bars just dropping the ball on relaying tourney results back to Colorado? Since you've already been playing over there, I thought maybe you'd know. If there's really that little interest in keeping up with the NPPL points, I'll probably still drive over to play, but won't waste my time trying to keep up with the League thing. |
