Money Question for online gaming

I've tried to read up about US players and all it does is make my head hurt - so I have a question.

You can *deposit* money as a US player but if you want to withdraw you have to go through a in-between, is that how it works? I am a US player and I deposited real money for the first time using a VISA on one of the big Poker sites. I wasn't sure what would happen but after typing in my info it took a few minutes to approve it... and it did. So now I have real money waiting to play, but my question is - did anything illegal just happen lol

Technically, no.

Also, you can cashout with checks.
