As poker tournament players across America get ready for this month's groundbreaking $1 million Online Super Series, Americas Cardroom is upping the ante for small stakes ring game players, too. The US-friendly online poker site today announced its $5k Micro Race, an online poker leaderboard competition for micro stakes ring game players.

The race runs in tandem with Americas Cardroom's OSS II from January 13th through 27th. Any player who sits down at micro-stakes ring game tables will automatically compete in the $5k Micro Race. Micro stakes tables include $0.01/$0.02, $0.02/$0.05, and $0.05/$0.10 tables. Americas Cardroom will award points to players who contribute to a pot where rake is collected. Players can also accumulate 25 points by playing in any $0.55 OSS II Satellite. Points will be awarded at a rate of rake x 1.25.

"Our mid stakes and high stakes players are already making big gains by playing The Beast, so we thought it was a good time to give micro-stakes players something big to get excited about," said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "We've positioned the $5k Micro Race at the same time as OSS II, so January 13th to 27th promises to be a big time for tournament and cash game players."

At the end of the 2-week period, Americas Cardroom will spread the $5k prize pool among the top ranked players. Funds will be credited to the winners' accounts in real cash within five days of the completion of the points race.

For poker players who enjoy bigger stakes tables, The Beast jackpot tables will run simultaneously. The Beast is a monthly points race with a prize pool that's fed through contributed jackpot money. In December, Americas Cardroom handed out over $176,000 in cash and prizes to The Beast players.

Players who participate in the $5k Micro Race can also join this month's OSS II series. The $1 million guaranteed online poker series features approximately 82 events spread out over two weeks. The series will culminate in a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, with $75k, $100k, and $150k tournaments thrown into the mix, too. The series also includes leaderboard competitions with extra prizes on the line for the top performers in the series. OSS II runs from January 13th through January 27th, and low buy-in qualifiers are now running.

Full details on the $5k Micro Race and Americas Cardroom's Online Super Series II can be found at AmericasCardroom.eu.

Is this only ACR? Or does it apply to Black Chip players as well?

Ya definitely...The whole Winning Network will be booming during OSS II...and while I despise the beast tables at the lower stakes I play, and have no desire to play micros for the points race because I can't multitable...I still will be playing in most the OSS tournament events. It'll be a good week for US players.
