Is it me, or are Gold Chips useless on Cake now?

Over the last month, off and on, I've been looking at the lobby, clicking the Tournaments Tab, and then the Gold Card/ Chip sub tab, and all I see are Gold Card tournaments.

2 or 3 weeks ago, I did see some tournaments that paid out cash with gold chips; but it was like 30 gold chips to enter a tourney where the top 5 players got $15; a satellite payout structure but with cash, not tournament tickets.

However, within the last week, there are just sit and goes where you can enter with Gold Chips, but they just pay out in Gold Chips.


You can't turn Gold Chips into Money anymore.

Am I missing something here? My 34 GC's are now useless as far as I can tell!
