Are loosing streaks usual and how do u deal with them???

Hi all.

I`m having a bad time this month!!!

Last 4 few S&G`s & tournys are as follows (all $20 buy in)...
  • Short stacked, deal AQ. Raise 5 times bb (500). Called by chip leader who is on button. Flop 247 rainbow. I only have 400 chips left, push all in. Called. He turns KK.
  • Dealt KK early in a tourny. Raised on button by loose player 5 times bb. I am next to act. So I double his raise. Folds to button who goes all in. UTG folds. I want to gamble, so I go all in. He turns KJc - result!!! Flop ccc - he has flush!!!
  • Dealt AA last 5 in tourny. Just made money. Short stack has about 3/4 of my chip stack. I raise 3 times bb. He goes all in, I call. He turns JJ. J falls on flop. His trips does me and finishes me off.
  • AQ final table of S&G. I have about 10 times bb left. Push all in. Called by someone who just has me covered - if he looses he is out. He turns KJ and catches J on turn.
So, my point. In these kind of small stake games, would I be better pushing all in with premium hands at any time? It seems that it is pointless raising because if they have any kind of hand they will see a raise like a red rag to a bull!!! The only way you can shake them off or get best value must be an all in??? I know it would look like muppet play pushing 1500 chips into a pot when you are dealt AA UTG and the blinds are 15/30, but how else do you shake them?

Also, the first point - my AQ v KK - that was just an example of how my luck is running.

How would you guys deal with the above situations???

Everybody gets swings, ronaldadio - it's all about how you can minimize your losses when you have one that makes you a better player. I used to have terrible tilt problems, and still do but to a lesser extent. You just have to learn that KK will lose to KJs one in every seven times. That really isn't that uncommon if you think about it. People also freak out (including me) when AA loses to a smaller pair or even to two smaller cards, but the odds are still only 4.5:1 and 5:1 respectively. That really isn't that great, and you just have to accept that you will lose with them once in a while.

Good hands WILL lose, and lesser hands WILL win once in a while. That's something you have to accept in poker, which does involve luck - especially with these online donfests when people will call all ins with KJ. If you can't handle the swings and it puts you on tilt then you have to take a break. I personally have practiced controlling my tilt alot recently, and it's helped my game alot.

Yeah losing streaks do hit you at times. I deal with them in a pretty unorthodox way but it fun for me. I hit as many freerolls as possible and play like the major donk maniac we all have lurking in us. I'll go all in on almost everything. I'll lose a lot but once in awhile I'll start hitting and move way up in the chip count. then i settle down and play my game. It's great fun and gets rid of alot of bad play tendencies cause you get tired of losing.

Now to your play.
First play their are two plays there to do right. One since you are shortstacked go all in PF. He had you beat anyway but that would be the way to get the best value for your shortstack.
The second way was when he called you and you hit nothing on the flop back off and wait and see. If he bet fold and wait to the next hand cause you had nothing. I've come back from 80 chips to place in the money.

Second one was correct. Just file that under bad beat and say nice hand hoping he does the same with a different outcome.

Third hand again a bad beat. But difference you still had chips left to try to get into money. Wait and see what comes up.

Fourth hand you have 10x BB, not too bad there. I would have just bet 3x BB at that point. On flop put out 4x BB. Should push him out. Or at least give you info.
