Live table games at new local casino

I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum to post to -- sorry in advance if it's not.

I new casino just opened right here in my city (Philadelphia, PA), and as a recreational live small stakes NL Holdem player and online micro stakes player, I was excited to hear that it had table games. I popped my head in the other day and noticed that the only poker table games were (I believe) 6-max with the dealer apparently in every hand ... and not folding. I'm not exactly sure the rules, but it definitely wasn't the full ring games that I was expecting or that I've seen in Atlantic City the one time I was there.

Am I crazy in thinking that these are not profitable games because (as with blackjack) the casino is playing in each hand which I assume completely changes the basic elements & strategy of "normal" poker games?

Should I give it a shot, or am I bound to lose money even if I'm playing against other fish at the table? Thanks.

I have never heard of this where the dealer for the house is playing. Does the button remain with him as well?

I think basically you are playing against the dealer. It's probably similar to something like Caribbean Stud, or one of those "poker" games they have at some casinos. I think it was called Holdem Bonus. Something like that.

yea my buddy played this. Its a house game where you just try and beat the dealers hand, thats the only thing your worried about. As with any house game the house has a big edge so its not profitable in the long run. Just curious what casino did you go to.

I live about walking distance (bicycle distance really) from a small casino (Crystal Casino) with similar games. They don't market poker right at the Crystal, maybe they don't at the new casino near you either. Funny thing is they are the only casino in So Cal right on the public transit lines, freeway signage and the Blue Line. Easy sell right there, but they don't seem to even try. Continues to boggle my mind......

I live also not far from the Bicycle Casino, (car distance really) where they do market poker much better, and thus always have a good crowd, and a good spectrum of games.

Car distance away are the Hawaiian Gardens Casino which seems always full, and the Commerce, which I haven't been in, but touts itself as the biggest poker room in the world.

Marketing is key, and you might want to talk to someone at the new casino about what plans they will divulge, and maybe even apply for a job.

Long story short - it's a table game, so you'll be playing against the house and therefore it'll be -EV. Avoid it.

Were you at Parx? Cause they only have Texas Hold'Em Bonus (table game) right now. If you do play that, you are playing against the house only, so the other "fish" have no outcome on the hand. And long term it's just like any other table game, the house has the edge.

Parx regular poker room doesn't open until November 1st.

If you were at SugarHouse, they are not planning on having a regular poker room right now.

The only poker room open in the Philly area right now is at Harrah's in Chester and the lines down there are ridiculous because they only have 25 tables. Sometimes the wait for a 1/2 NL table is 2 hourse (depending on when you go).

apparently they added more tables to Harrahs chest. But that don't matter cause i hear the floor cant fill tables or work a waiting list at all, but i have not been there so im just going off other peoples word.
