Intertops Poker - really sketchy email I am absolutely appalled. I downloaded Intertops last week to play in the CC freeroll that was canceled. I created an account and played a few freerolls to feel out the software. Today I got home from work and started the software and it wouldn't log me in, saying my account had been locked. So I emailed support and feel compelled to share that conversation as the whole situation just feels really weird. --MY FIRST EMAIL-- Username: palmerd2 I tried to get into the 7pm freeroll today and it says my account has been locked. I reinstalled the software twice and tried the direct login through the sportsbook. Sincerely, -- David R. Palmer --THEIR RESPONSE-- Dear David, Thank you for your e-mail. We wish to inform you that your account did not pass our security checks therefore as a result, management has decided that your account will remain closed. Thank you for your understanding and do have a good day!! Sincerely, Cynthia --MY RESPONSE-- Hi Cynthia, Thank you for your quick response. I do need some advice on how to proceed. Would it be possible for me to create a new account using the same handle, palmerd2? If so, please let me know when you have deleted my locked account so I can create a new one using the same name. If not, please let me know so I can attempt to create a new account using a seperate email address. The reason why I am so concerned is because CardsChat will be sponsoring a $500 freeroll at your site sometime in the near future. As an active member at the forum, I find their tournaments to be much more skill-based and rewarding to play than most low-stakes tournaments. Also, I am confused on how I did not pass security, as I did not deposit nor withdraw. The only information you should have is my permanent address and my username and password. Sincerely, David Palmer --THEIR FINAL RESPONSE-- Dear David, Thank you for your response. Unfortunately our system will not allow you to create a new account. Thank you for your understanding and do have a good evening. Sincerely, Cynthia

There has to be an issue with your account or they would not have closed it. I am not sure why you thought they would then let you create a new one when your first one was closed - that makes zero sense on your part. However - something I have never approved of is the reluctance of poker sites to reveal the specific reasons why they closed accounts when it is related to security. They all do it and have done it - Pokerstars, Full Tilt - never have understood the need for the mystery.

re: Intertops Poker - really sketchy email I am really disappointed because I want to play in the exclusive $500.00 freeroll. What really sucks is that they won't let me create a new account using a different handle. I have accounts at FT, Stars, Bodog, Carbon, Doyles, and Pokerview and have never had an issue...

You may be able to open a new account with a different username. I had issues and had to change my username on the different sites within the same skins. You also need to be careful of the email address you used. You will not be able to create a new account, even with a new username, using the same email address. Good luck

I am deleting my account and will try to set up a new one with a different handle and email address. Obviously I am never depositing on this site. Imagine if I had deposited and then been locked out of my account... Possible reasons? I live in US but Cake is US friendly... I use wireless internet so no hardline IP... I am 21 years old so no age problems... Its really getting to me because their freerolls are actually pretty soft as well. It sucks so bad!

Same thing happened to me OP, i set up the account to play the freeroll, they sent me this email, to verify my account >> Thank you for choosing Intertops! >> >> We wish to advise you that Intertops has installed a new security feature, which protects our customers and ensures the highest level of security. >> >> In order to verify your account, we kindly ask you to send us the following account verification documents: >> >> * Recent Utility Bill / Credit Card statement (confirming your Intertops account address) Not older than 3 months >> * Valid Driver's License / Passport ID page >> >> You may scan or photograph the document(s) and send as an e-mail attachment to: support@intertopspoker.com >> >> Please note that we also require a valid telephone number for your account. >> >> We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hearing from you soon. If you have any further queries, please contact us and we will be happy to assist. I didnt send any documents because i never have had to do this before to any other sites, i have never played on cake or intertops before, i tryed to log in to play the game and it says my account is locked. i emailed them and asked hat was the problem, i got this response Thank you for your e-mail. Kindly note as advised in our previous correspondence, you will be required to provide us with your documents in order for us to verify and reactivated your account. Thank you for your understanding. We await your response. Sincerely Jamal Then i told them to shove there site where the sun dont shine and ill play somewhere else, i cant see them attracting new players if this is going on..

re: Intertops Poker - really sketchy email I have had to supply that information to multiple poker sites - and so have loads of others. You shouldn't play anywhere if you are not willing to give them that information because if they don't request it up front you are likely to have to provide it when you want to withdraw.

Wow on some of the things mentioned here. My intertops account was just started because of the freeroll here. I have been on cake for close to 2 years so maybe that's why I didn't have to jump thru any hoops to open the account on intertops. When I opened on Cake ... I had to do the send docs things. That was via a free 50 dollar roll so I attributed that inconvenience to that. Just my 2 cents worth.

The overreaction in this thread is amazing. Just to play on French sites, for example, you have to supply a bank statement (not older than 3 months), a form of ID (e.g. passport) AND they send a letter to your house with a code on it which you have to type in. If you don't do all that within a month they lock your account and apparently it's super hard to get it back. To transfer on Party, just between accounts, you have to verify your account with a bank statement < 3 months old. It's super standard. Stars+Tilt used to sometimes require it for withdrawals too, it's not a new thing. As for having your account locked for security reasons and thinking you could just open a new one, what? They've clearly locked your account for a reason, why would they just let you open a new one with exactly the same details?

I submitted the minimum amount of information possible to create a new account, as I have done successfully in the past at Bodog and Doyles. So just name, address, email, and I think that was it. I guess I am just spoiled in that depositing and withdrawing have always been very easy for me. I have never been put through hoops, had my account locked, etc. But it is a new day in poker, so I guess sketchy stuff like this is becoming standard. It would be one thing if the support rep hadn't been a **** about it and actually explained what went wrong and what I could do to correct it. But this high-handed, rude, "gtfo our site" email just really steamed me up since I wanted to play the CC freeroll so much. If I am overreacting, so be it, I'm just another US player who wants another venue to play online poker. But I will stick to my story that this is a textbook example of how NOT to do customer service. Last edited by palmerd2 : 26th July 2011 at 2:23 PM. |

If its any consolation I agree they are super titeass. I deposited 100 and they won't let me bring more than 20 to a table without ID being submitted. Never heard of restricting depositing funds like that. I am steamed, but also think they are being super cautious, so maybe its not too bad... if you have ID
