How many Chips?

Hello,
I play poker for fun with my friends a lot and planning to play poker at my house and planning to buy a poker set.
How many poker chips do each player start off with? (for the basic color chips)
white:?
red:?
Blue:?
Green:?
Black:?
oh ya this is just for fun.

Well the traditional values for chips are:


White: $1
Red: $5
Green: $25
Black: $100
Purple: $500
Yellow: $1000

But you can make chips worth any amount you want really.

You can start with $1000 chips if you like, or even start with $100 worth or even $10,000 if you feel like it (or have enough chips).

To start blinds, you usually start the big blind at 1/100 or 1/50 of the starting stack. So if you started with $1000 in chips, the BB would be $10 or $20(SB= $5 or $10).
And if you started at $10,000 chips, the BB would be $100 (SB= $50) or $200 (SB = $100)
