Holy Hell Bodog?? Client problems..

I play on several poker rooms, and today I felt like playing on bodog.. But the client has been freezing and lagging like hell! Is it just me or what? I don't get this with any other site.. I had to exit bodog a few times now and restart causing me to lose a bit.

Checking now the client is using 50+ CPU, very unusual..

I was use to use bodog, but decided to cancel my account because I had to much lag and freezing problems. GL

They didn't use to be like this, I wonder whats up, I saw someone else complaining about simular problems..

I'd like to know the answer also since I've reged to represent CC in the OFC event @ BoDog @ the end of the month & would prefer not to experience any system issues (the primary reason I really don't play @ that site).

While I was playing in a freeroll, a few people here and there would take FOREVER to call/bet/check, then I would ask why and they said the same thing.. freezing.

I was fed up and just tilted all my chips away, I couldn't take it.. I had AA and I ended up getting auto-folded since I was taking too long due to the client freezing.

I was doing good too, got past most of the donks, around 400 people left when I decided to bust.

I had the exact same experience, tilted and shoved - afraid I'd bet 1/4 of my stack and it might freeze. lol I posted here, and PMed Becky. She got back to me saying she passed the info on, and tech support would get back to me soon. No word so far. Does this sound familar (scroll to the bottom)?.....

Anyway, when it freezes, you get the screen that offers you a choice of 1) waiting, or 2) rebooting the client. Sometimes I waited. When it came back, sometimes I miss the hand, lose a bet, sometimes, I'd make it back in time. And rebooting didn't help much. This happened to me in about 1/2 the hands. Occasionally it would work fine for 3 hands in a row, then boom, start crashing all over again. This went on for about an hour, til I just gave up, probably tilted and shoved. lol.

FYI, my computer is very, very fast, 4G ram. And I have cable. This happens to me at no other poker site. Maybe once every few months at Full Tilt. But I play there almost daily. Bodog, not so much, and happens every time for the past...IDK 3 - 6 months? BTW, I asked at the table if anyone else was having issues. One guy said yes, no one else answered me. Any ideas? P.S. If this doesn't get solved by OFC freeroll, I think some folks are gonna think twice about plunking down even $5.50.

I know that @ the end of last year BoDog was in the process of improvements but I just haven't gotten around to taking another trial run... (see post #69 of >>> Bodog making some improvements. for my prior adventures on BoDog).

I thought the OFC event would be an opportune time to give 'em another try...then I stumbled into this thread.

I recently got a new laptop that's running Windows 7...when I attempted to download the app I rec'd this msg (so unless I get this resolved, I won't be able to participate in the OFC event @ the end of the month ).

Look at my post #92 in that thread. The exact same thing was going on November, and no they didn't contact me then. They've got to be getting hundreds of complaints. If it's not fixed by now, you gotta wonder if it will be in 2 & 1/2 weeks.

So lemme ask everyone....Is there anyone here playing at Bodog fairly regularly that is NOT having technical issues??? Further, what version on Windows? I believe it worked fine w/XP, which I have on my desktop. Maybe I've see if I can get it back on the router, and boot Bodog up in XP. I mean is it possible that 64-bit Windows 7 is the problem????

BTW, I got a new laptop with Windows 7 too. But I was able to DL it, don't recall any problems. Try uninstalling it, especially since it's telling you there are corrupt files. When you reinstall it, make sure you let it save it where it wants (the default), which is Program Files(x86).

Thanks for the suggestion but there isn't anything to uninstall...the install never completed >>> I rec'd the error msg prior to the download finishing .

When I download programs I consistently run or save to default (as I am lazy + plug & play is my 'default' ) Maybe I'll just reinstall it on my netbook which has Vista as the Op Sys (I know many peeps have had issues with Vista but I was pretty lucky & never had any probs) -- I just wanted to use my new toy...sigh.

I'll try to download again later today on the laptop though (when I wake up since I'm enroute to bed after this post -- was trying to wait up for the SO who's @ the Wynn playing poker but I am sleepy); it's possible the download was interrupted (as I was multi tasking downloads -- & the others were successful) but I'll have to conduct a search (vs a std uninstall) & scrub.

Don't do this, just don't. It goes to Program Files(x86) for a reason. Don't ask me what that reason it. lol Actually, it must have to do with Windows 7, as the (x86) does not exist in XP. But I once tried to put a download somewhere else, and it didn't work. But you don't want the Bodog client running into corrupt files on a fresh install. UB is the only site that ever created it's own folder (not inside Program Files(x86)) called Poker Applications. It works, so I leave it alone. Anyway, let me know here how it goes. Good luck!

I've been having problems updating my client for the last few months!

Hi, hi- I'm here! I have touched base with the Bodog Poker Manager and the team is aware of all your feedback...the best I can do is tell you that they are working on it. With every release, the client gets lighter and uses less computer resources...over time these issues will become more and more infrequent.

I dont got the patience Bodog blows imo. I not gonna register for the OFC just because there holding it on Bodog.. Terrible terrible decision by the ofc imo..

Just to answer one of your questions, yes Bodog also lags and freezes on XP. It has nothing to do with your computer or Operating System.

Thanks again, Becky! But gotta tell ya, Bodog has run worse after each update. Looks like Full Tilt us using 85k vs 52k for Bodog. Yet I don't have problems in FT. Wait, 15 minutes later, FT is using 45k, and Bodog 69k. Weird, eh?

IcyBlueAce said the CPU usage was over 50%. Well, I did not look yesterday, but I just looked right now, and it's maybe 2%, and I was just at the play money tables, and it's running like a top. No lag whatsoever. So might be an intermittent thing. Or could be that the 2:40 freeroll makes it lag? That is a piece of cake for a huge site like FT. Maybe not for Bodog? At any rate, I've played that freeroll for 3 years now, and never had these problems.

Hope they figure it out soon. No doubt they've gotten lots of phone calls. Maybe a good idea to call in while it's happening, as it might be harder to detect the cause while it's running great. It's great that Bodog is constantly striving to make improvements. But issues like Hand History, and what place you're in (in a tourney) hugely pale in comparison to not being able to play without freezing.

Well, the OFC likely has no idea of these semi-recent lag & freeze issues. I would still pre-register (I thought you did maybe). It doesn't mean you have to register. Maybe it will be resolved, or at least improved.

Oh, so you're having problems too? Yeah, I got the new laptop in November, so wasn't sure if Windows7 related. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

Yeah I run Windows Vista and get the freeze problems.. So I doubt it has to do with Windows 7, if it did, you can run programs as Windows XP in 7.

Well, I played the 2:40 freeroll just to see. Ran like a top for me. But there was 1 other guy that was complaining. During the course of the first 20 minutes, he said it improved, and didn't complain since. So there is a problem. Just that when it's bad, it's really really bad. Being that it ran perfect for me, and can't figure out why, it's hard to figure out what the problem could be. Guaranteed though, and as Becky suggested, I'm gonna be on there a bit, and phone them right away if it happens again.

Hmm... but one benefit is that it's a level playing field. Hand Grabbers, HUDs, stat trackers don't work on MTTs on Bodog. Yes occasionally it's laggy but the profitability on that site from the poor players on there, more than makes up for lag/layout/software issues in my opinion. And I have NEVER had a faster payout from any site that was as fast as Bodog.

Mind you, I trust Bodog implicitly, I do. After 3 years, longer than I been with anywhere else. But think maybe there is some weak idiot link(s) in their software depts. I do trust them though, great CR, they have granted my bet or disputed add-on or buy-in, when they didn't have to, but was the right thing to do.

Okay, more awake now; guess I could have worded the response better...I'm a Plug & Play kind of peep, whatever the default is for any download is where it will be run and/or saved. The only customizations I tend to do are aesthetics related for programs that allow it (ie: Excel, Word, etc...).Did an entire system search & unable to locate any BoDog files let alone corrupt files so the install was incomplete for the laptop -- in the midst of a reinstall to the netbook now (had uninstalled @ the end of last year).

Gotcha Bazerk. BTW, I played the 2:40 freeroll today there, and no problems whatsoever. Maybe they are finally taking this stuff seriously there, and made a fix. But it ran like lightening.

Just to let everyone in this thread know, Bodog has by far the best customer service in the business. They even list the number on top of the client at all times. They also usually answer a call within a few rings - yes, you actually get to talk to a live person. Posting things in this thread will not help or resolve your issues but if you call them, they will hook you up with technical support who will guide you through your issues - many times even making your pc run faster overall in general.

Downloaded the BODOG software last week just to play the OFC. Played it a few times to familiarise myself with the software and have had no problems.

Successfully reinstalled the app to the netbook...experience with 03.09.10 640PM PST $500 Freeroll less than optimal:

System kept freezing up (& it was the only app in use!?!) -- never saw the completion of any hand so had no clue what the other peeps were playing or who even won @ times (only if I was paying attn to chip stacks before & after the hand...spent most of time saying 'WTH')...knew there was a showdown since there would be an entire board on the screen.

The action would stop, if I opted to fold, & then I would return @ the end of the hand w/o a clue of what had just happened. If I opted to play...the sytem would fold for me & I would get the same results as when I chose to fold myself...sigh.

Will try another test run (or more?!) prior to the OFC event @ the end of the month...but @ least know the app will work (kinda) on the netbook.

Good point Kasanova King...for moi, I was multi tasking several downloads so chose not to be on the phone with Tech Support for an app that I plan on using @ the end of the month .

I used to get the freezing and the auto fold problems constantly about a year ago, but for the last 10 months I have not had a problem with Bodog.
I am using XP.

Played their freeroll today too. Freezed up like crazy, usually came back in time for the bet, just 1 time it didn't. But called them on the phone immediately. Got someone (immediately, good on them), but could only suggest I clear my cookies & history etc. I did all that and it did not help at all. FWIW, I asked others at the table if they were having that problem, and 2 answered this time, no problems whatsoever. I'm totally at a loss.

I had the same thing happening, but it was in the rather large freeroll, so I figured it might be the early stages of a large FR that heavy load was part of the reason....but now in hearing all the replies here, I'm reconsidering.

I phoned their support, and nice girl answered, actually spoke great English even, but she was like "well, you're the only one had trouble with it....". So please give phone support a call when you freeze, and let them know it's not just lil' Ean!

They must have some communication issues if they are saying this. I notice everytime I play you'll get a lot more people that timeout/take FOREVER than usual. I asked a few times why and some responded with the issues we all are having.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I told the guy "you must be getting lots of calls about this." He denied it. Like Acy, I noticed a couple others timing out too, in the rare times when I was running okay I guess. Still Ean, large freeroll or not, it is NOT that large. Max 5000, and usually just about 3000 sign up.

Yes, Dive, I was trying to be on the polite side regarding BoDog and at least give a little credit to the possibility of the size of the tourney being part of the reason. But clearly from this thread on CC, there are just plain issues with the latest Bodog software.

Glad I found this thread. I haven't played in a few months (real life got in the way) and started in some low limit NH games just to get my feel back and there were a couple people timing out consistently. Changed tables and same thing. Glad it is probably a tech issue and not player behavior. That helps me keep my frustrations in check, though I still wont be playing more than an hour or so at a time until it gets sorted out.
