Is Having Someone Sit In For You Kosher?

Believe it or not, I do have a job and a family and all the demands apon my time that comes with it. Often it is not possible for me to either finish or start a scheduled Cardschat tournament and will allow or request my wife or daughter to sit-in for me. They're both very strong players with styles noticably different from my own. I did this just the other day at the PokerWorld-Home Absolute freeroll at the final table. I introduced my wife to the other players and gave her the wheel. She says she had a great time with them. What do you all think of this practice, and am I the only guilty party?

I do the same thing four dogs. I don't think there is any problem with it. I have to do it with 4 kids. I have times I need to leave the tube for some reason or the other and i just do it.

I don't see anything wrong with it either. Sometimes I ask my cousin to sit in for me. A lot of times he does better than I would have. Not a cardschat tournament though. Only the other freerolls I get into.

I would consider this to fall into the "Don't ask, don't tell" department. It's impossible for the poker site to monitor. Beyond that, we're all on the "honor code" system. The only way I see it being a real problem is when it creates an unfair advantage in a major online event. Bringing in a ringer to play in your place to win you a WSOP seat, or to split the winnings at a big money tourney seems shady. Covering for you at a private freeroll with maybe $12 on the line for winning? No prob. (Or is that just another sad example of "situational ethics" on my part?)

Hi - I don't care if someone does this but here is one experience I had.

This person who I thought was an adult was playing. They were playing normal poker - nothing special. Then all of a sudden the betting gets very aggressive and completely different. Come to find out, the first person playing was (supposedly a 6 year old) who had to take a bath and DADDY took over. I'm not sure I believe that. But I called the guy on it about being at least 18 - 21 year old to gamble. He said - she's got to learn sometime. That didn't sit well with me.

I knew something changed just by the betting. Luckily, I was changed to another table and got away from his overbearing and gloating chatter.

I would rather have someone sit in for a person and play, rather than having to play with sitouts. I just think the sitouts mess the game up especially if they are scatered around the table. If anyone wants someone to play for them i have no objection to that. A friend of mine says he has an advantage with sitouts cause there are not as many players and there are fewer cards, i keep telling him the sitouts still get dealt the hole cards in a 10 person game 20 hole cards are dealt out, if you make it to the final table, lets say 4 people left then there are only 8 hole cards dealt and the value of your cards goes up.
