Has anyone cash a check from one of the poker sites recently?

Im just wondering because this would be an easy way for me to find out where to not waste my time since there are so many sites out there.

Can anyone do me some justice, I don't need to know how much it is...unless you want to brag/lie!

Which is always cool if you did earn it, congratulations!

yes. and lemme just give u one unsolicited advice (esp if ur a US-based player): dont cash them at ur bank. or any bank for that matter. find a local check cashing store that WILL accept the check(s) in question and go back there as/when needed.

cashed a 3k check from carbon at my bank...not one problem. $ cleared, bank didn't have a problem with it. its not like the check says "issued by carbon poker". it said something like payment processing systems, inc. blah blah blah

initially i went to a western union/check cashing place and they would not take the check b/c they could not locate the "business" that issued the check. i told them it shouldn't matter who's writing it so long as the bank and account on which its drawn is good. it was on a CA Wells Fargo account....but they wouldn't take it.

so, either i need to find a less strict check cashing place, or just do it at my bank.

if you want to get your money quickly from bodog, deposit via rapid transfer (western union or moneygram) and you can withdraw the same way, it takes as little as 2 days to get it....Also, stay away from sportsbook poker and the book itself....

My addvice is stick with the big sites: FTP and PS,all lot of the smaller sites are good to but there are alot that are not.
Im non US player and online gambling is legal in my country so im not really sure if my experience helps you .

im sure the banks will (generally) have no problem cashing the checks. and i also know that nowhere on the checks does it say 'online poker' or the site's name (no duh!). STILL, the feds know all their check 'clearinghouses' and if anyone would ever want to cause you any trouble in the future, they could, if there's a paper trail from your bank linking you.
just sayin'...OTOH, you're free and clear at a check cashing place. and yes, it's also true not all check cashing places will cash the poker checks (for the asinine reason they gave you), but most will. find one nearby you that will and go back there.
just my two cents...

The only poker check I ever cashed, was from back in the day from Tropical Poker. It seems alot easier to use a e- wallet and pay a small fee, rather than wait at least a month.

Bodog...Takes way too long...very seldom will deposit and play there now.
Full Tilt...not a long wait, and easy to cash.
Duplicate Poker...check by mail in 7-14 days, some difficulty cashing larger checks initially (over $1K) but once approved to cash, always approved.

Got a check last week from full tilt, deposited into a Wells Fargo ATM machine the next day, when I checked my account about 2 days later everything looked good to me. Never had a problem with FTP before. The checks that FTP gives out look very generic and the company name is an accounting services corporation so I don't think banks would care to look into them.

I know what you're saying. I have the same fears. But I don't know whether I'm just paranoid or whether the concern is warranted.

I've had a few checks from a side job. I lost my ledger and asked at my bank if they had a history of checks that I'd CASHED there (not deposited) and they said no - and that there is no way to track those. Good if true.

So maybe if you get a small enough check and cash it at your bank (don't deposit), it just flies under the radar. I think there is a threshold where any financial transaction has to be forwarded to the feds. Anybody know what that is? Is it ten grand?

My solution, and I hope it works, is to keep my transactions small. Say for example I want to withdraw two million dollars from my poker account. Rather than taking it all at one time, I'll take a series of 20,000 $100 checks.

I have had no trouble withdrawing or getting cheques (within ten days) from: Absolute Poker, Ultimatebet, Stars, Tilt, Poker Plex, Party Poker.
Actually, never had trouble getting my money out anywhere (knocks on wood).

Cashed from Ultimatebet recently, emailed confirmation in 2 days and got the check in about 7 business days. They have a secondary company issue the check, Money Mart cashed it no problems. Kind of got screwed with the exchange rate both ways, 1st when I deposited and second when I cashed. Like the idea of Paypal since I have an account where I use Cdn and US currency for purchases and the funds are transferred super quick.

We all know full tilt had some problems with checks and stuff but I think they finally got it fixed, I got my first one for 1k few days ago and another one for 1k is on its way. FTP is only site I play on so not sure for other sites, tbh I just trust the bigger sites out there, they have more to lose than smaller sites so they don't really want to screw anybody over for some silly 1k or 2k or w/e it is.

How much personal info did u need to make a withdrawl at bodog? I have been playing there about 2 years and only small amounts deposited with my visa card. I had a couple good weeks and when I try to withdrawl some of my money all of a suden they needed alot more personal info to get it out. They had no problem with my personal info when I made the deposits. I hated party poker but I never had any problem getting my money when I wanted it. I don't know if it makes any difference but, I live in the U.S. Thanks for any info or help anyone can give

The only time US banks are supposed to report checks cashed are whe they are $10k plus--It doesn't matter where they, come from--just the amount.........

This subject came up in another forum I am in. This guy had a couple of checks totalling over 10K and the bank asked him where they were from and he said that they were from an internet poker site. The bank froze his account and is currently holding his money as well. First rule, clam up if they want to know. Personally, I would have said that my European cousin died and left me part of his estate. The check cashing store is looking a lot more attractive since I heard this story.

Just cashed a check out from moneybookers, a UK online bank, yet the check came from a NY branch. You US players are being screwed from both sides. My Vegas trip is now totally free, airline points and online winnings, live trip report to follow.
