Going to AC w/ friends. Can really use some advice

Hello all,

This is my first post here, so I would just like to start by saying whatsup to everyone.

A handful of friends and myself have been playing home games for over a year now, I have personally been playing online for over 8 months now and I finally manage to beat the low limit games and S&G tournaments.

We have decided to take a trip to Atlantic City to have fun and, of course, test our skills against other people (aside from myself playing online, we have barely played with more than 7-8 other people that are our friends)

Now, here is the question.

We will be heading this mid October and staying for the weekend, and I know that the weekend tournaments and cash-games are all around more expensive, and we aren't really looking for anything big. On average, we will be bringing about 500 bucks a head on poker money (this is not counting other expenses)

So, with that said, can anyone here recommend any good casino's that host daytime/nighttime tournaments and other casino's that have good cash games? by good I mean rakes aren't crazy and possibly even collections instead of rakes and of course the enviornment is good as well.

Any decent hotel to stay at?

We will probabley not be staying at a casino hotel/resort since that are too expensive for out budget, but I do know there are a number of 'outskirts' hotels and motels that are just fine. Are any within walking distance to the casino's? Any of them include some sort of free transportation to the casino's?

Any answers would be awesome, and if anyone has some sort of AC guide, that would be great too since I couldn't really find a good one.

Thanks!

-Sam

Might be one or two decent hotels on the strip right next to the casinos. Probably best to call and make reservations. Might find better accommodation's and better rates just outside of the town. (take a cab)
Best and safest to stay in casino.

Go online and check the poker rooms at all the casinos. Get a good feel for what's going on while your there. Save some walking.

Good luck on your trip, and welcome to CC.

ive been to atlantic city with a local poker club 6 or 8 times now, and weve always enjoyed Bally's casino. they have great tournaments around the clock daily, along with a shitload of free food and drink while playing poker cash tables.

Theres a Best Western right next to the Tropicana on the board walk. Clean and the rates are ok. MAKE A RESERVATION. Any Harrah's casinos ie: the marina, Showboat,Bally's NO ANTE"S in their tournaments. For any weekend tourney your lookin at a 100$ buy-in . Sunday mornings the Borgata has a 50 + 10 NLHE tourney . Note: whichever casino you want to play in, as soon as you get to the casino go to guest services and get a players club card. You'll need it to get into any tourney. The trop has its own "poker club" card that you get in the poker room. 500 bucks isn't much of a bankroll ...save a couple hundred more just in case...... The buffet at the showboat, wild wild west, and the borgata are the best. one more thing......check out midnight madness at the Taj. 100 + 20 and half the players are smashed....but the other half are sharks...

I have been travelling to AC on business for many years and have found there are some outstanding local restaurants that represent a much better dining experience and better value for the money. Take time to get away from the casino scene and check out this restaurant:

Anchorage Tavern Restaurant

823 Bay Avenue
Somers Point, New Jersey 08244-2346
ph: 609.926.1794
Here's an excerpt about the Anchorage:
This restaurant serves an American cuisine known for their seafood. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $8 to $12.

Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner.
Details to Note: Reservations are accepted. Carryout is available. Parking has been arranged for customers. Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club and Discover
Rated by 7 visitor(s): World-Class

I travel all over the U.S. and Canada on business, know all the best places to go, and this is one of them! Check it out...you'll be glad you did!
