Is Gambling allowed in your state? I live in New Hampshire. The closest Casino is Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun in Connecticutt. The only sactioned gambling allowed in NH is bingo and dog track betting, but within the past few years since the Holdem craze has come about charity poker events are popping up everywhere and yes I've been to a few of them. From my understanding the state will allow poker only if a percentage of the money taken goes to a charity. So how is it in you state? I just wish they would get a casino up here since there is so much poker games around now but the lawmakers are still voting against it.

I think dog track betting is cool! Hope I can try it someday. Only horse racing here in California. (also the lottery, bingo & full Indian casinos) What's cool about California is that, in the 1980's, the state deemed Poker a "game of skill" and legalized it. There's card rooms here & there in No.Cal, but most of the nicer ones are in So.Cal & the SF Bay Area. I still like to go to Reno NV, the birthplace of the WSOP.

re: Is Gambling allowed in your state? poker I live in Oklahoma and they just in the past 2 years voted for basically for Full Indian Gaming. We have had Bingo Halls here for 20 years atleast. Then Horse racing came in about 10-12 years ago. Not long after you could buy what they call a pull tab at the Bingo Halls and they cost anywhere from a .25 to 1.00 and you pulled tabs on the front kind of like a lottery ticket. They stopped that for awhile and then about 4-5 years ago they had alot of the Indian Bingo Halls turn into a Bingo slot machine halls. The lot of them were simliar to a regular slot machine but had electronic bingo cards that you could change the card and you could stop the lines on these(they still have quite a few of them around here also) At one time BlackJack tables surfaced at some of these Bingo halls and you had to pay to join the Club just to play and they took a rake for the house and the rest of the losses went into a prize pool for a championship tourney each quarter. Where in turn your hours of play gave you so many starting chips into the tourney. They stopped this and then the vote came 2-3 years ago for the table games and the compacted games and the lottery. A long story even longer(sorry) We now have basically Vegas style slot machines and the lot of these are still attached to the electronic bingo system thing(not sure why guess it was part of the compact), video poker just started not that long ago also. BlackJack Tables, 3 card poker, PaiGow Poker, Mini Baccarat and Poker of all kinds. The lottery started in October of last year with the scratch offs, then came the Pick 3 and the first of the year brought Powerball. The only thing we DON'T have is craps, roulette, The wheel of Fortune (we have the slot lol ) and Keno. I can't think of anything else we don't have. And there you have it the History of Oklahoma Gaming in a nutshell lol I do find it a shame though, sure messes up my vacation plans these days, why go anywhere we have almost all of it right here.

Hmmm, we have nearly everything here [ lol...Las Vegas] except the lottery (which will probably never happen since the casinos will probably block any attempt to allow it). The weird thing, when we 1st moved here, was cell phone use was allowed in the poker rooms but not in the sportsbook (cell phones are now allowed in sportsbook since last Fall until the NV Gaming Commission decides to permanently lift the ban)...in CA we were used to cell phones okay in the racebook but not the poker room.

re: Is Gambling allowed in your state? poker I live in the Illinois, Chicago area, we got 4-5 casino's within a 50 radius, but the one's by me are pot limit, I hate pot limit, but the rest of the games are pretty much the same stuff you'll find in Vegas, an we got a bunch of the charity games, some can get pretty big, we got one that gets televised, and bars that have holdem leagues, but there freerolls top three get gift cards, but they can be really competitive a bunch of online players usually, but oddly enough it's illegal to play online if you live in Illinois (LMAO)

Washington State is pretty good for poker rooms. All the Indian Casinos have them and no matter where you live in the state you will have a poker room nearby. However are horrible online poker laws are a joke (they don't enforce them but still a crappy law)

re: Is Gambling allowed in your state? poker The question was gambling legal. There are many forms of gambling and each state handles them differently. Some states don't allow for any gambling of any kind. Others allow for different levels of gambling. My state (OHIO) allow for personal gambling as long as no one profits from it other than that people making wagers. In other words you can bet a ball game with your friend but it has to be an even bet, no vig, juice or whatever you might call it. More specifically to this forum Texas hold-em and other forms of poker ARE legal in Ohio. Whats not legal is taking a rake or profiting from the specific game of poker. Also all gambling must be done in a private place. In other words you can have a home game, but you can't rake the pots. And yes taking $5 from everyones stack to pay for the pizza IS considered a rake, ALL wagered money Must be returned to the players. Also you are also NOT allowed to charge a seat fee. Something to consider when choising a club in OHIO.

In Virginia we have the lottery like scratchers and lotto. We used to have Bingo when I was younger, but I think they stopped it because it was a form of gambling... not too sure on that tho. But we do have Colonial Downs Racetrack... and you can bet on horses...that like 20 mins down the road from me tho I haven't been there since I was in grade school. We don't have any casinos or anything, people drive to West Virginia sometimes if you are close enough, but for me would prolly be the same amount of time to drive to AC, I think. In West Virginia they have some indian casinos.. but I have never been. In Hampton Virginia(20 mins other direction of me from Cdowns) they have a Racetrack Betting place, tho I also have never been there, I think it's owned by Colonial Downs racetrack or something. It is only on TV screens or somethign tho, as its not an actual racetrack like colonial downs is. I used to play alot of scratchers, and have won 50$ off the same game that cost 5$ 6 times. It was a bingo one, and online you can see how many prizes are left for each ticket, this one had mucho mucho prizes left, more than any.

re: Is Gambling allowed in your state? poker Pa has slot casinos now for a couple of years and now has just allowed poker and other table game. Not up and running yet but soon. Pa gambling laws are a mess. ex..It's not illegal to place a bet with a bookie, it's just that it's illegal for him to accept it. He goes to jail, you go home. There are several poker cases working there way though the courts now. Not sure what will happen to them now that poker at the casinos are legal. The biggest gamble in the state happens ever Nov when we go to vote for these clowns. You have to pick who will steal less.

We've got one casino, and it's got an exclusivity agreement with the state government that says it's the only game in town for at least another 40 years or something. Home games are legal, as are free to enter tournaments in pubs / bars / etc.
