The G-man Bankroll Story
The G-man Bankroll Story
Well everyone I would just like to give you the current take on my bankroll situation and how online poker has gone for me over the past few months of playing…. I started off with a $50 deposit and hit the Micro’s and small entry SNG’s, I managed to get it up to $80. After this things slowly but surely began to turn sour. I could’nt place in any SNG’s at all, whenever I hit the ring games nothing seemed to be working out for me, I’m sure everyone has been there and this was my time I guess…. Anyways eventually I managed to lose my deposit and was really gutted about it to be honest, re-depositing was the last thing I wanted to do but I wasn’t going to give up so I put another $50 into my account. I started off well with this and won the first SNG I played and boosted my bankroll up to about $68. I continued to play the SNG’s (almost exclusively) and was up and down for a while until I hit a real cold streak…. My bankroll slipped to around $30 in less than a week. At this point I played 5/10 NL ring games in hope of increasing it but found I was up and down until I hit another bad run and lost my bankroll again!!! Now I’ll be honest, at this point I’m thinking what the hell is going on??? I believed I was good enough to make money at this game, as it’s something I’ve done before and my desire to create myself an online bankroll in which to play with was still at the forefront of my plans. Now I bet your all probably thinking…. ‘He’s obviously not a very good player, he’s playing too loose / passive and he needs to have a major re-think on how he plays the game’ My style however has always been tight / aggressive but there was obviously something wrong that I couldn’t quite put my finger on…. Anyways, I did the impossible, I made a third yes that’s third deposit of $50 onto pokerstars and made a decision that this was the last investment I make into the game with the exception of the dreaded freeroll’s. Since SNG’s had really hurt my bankroll previously I decided to stick to 5/10 NL ring exclusively, play a tight / aggressive and see where that got me. Progress was fairly good in the first few weeks but I was struggling to get over the $90 mark. I was multi-tabling quite a bit and that was working out quite well but I had one or 2 fairly big dips My Bankroll was at about $70 and I went against solid bankroll strategy advice to play at the 10/25 NL ring’s to play 2 tables at the same time buying in for the maximum $25. After playing these limits for a few days I was finding myself winning consistently and managed to break the $100 mark very easily by playing a solid game. This brings me to yesterday’s session, I don’t usually have time to play for much over the weekend but I wasn’t doing anything so I played a solid 7 hours roughly. I started off with the 10/25 NL games and then tried the 25/50 with great success. I had the usual ups and downs but over the course of the day I managed to build up my bankroll to $210, giving me a $60 bankroll on top of what I had lost previously! I know that I have been playing above the recommended limits for my bankroll but I just feel at home at these limits, they just seem very easy to dominate with the correct table selection skills as long as you play a solid tight / aggressive game with a little bit of caution thrown in. I have been playing 2-3 tables at a time, playing top 10 hands, continuation betting, limping with possible game winning hands like Ax suited, small pocket pairs and suited connectors in mid-late position and up to now I must say things are going well. I am constantly setting myself targets and at the moment I am aiming to push my + $ bankroll to around $150 to give me a good start in my mission for poker stardom! (yeah right ) lol.Sorry for the length of this post but I just wanted to give a detailed account of my status and any further progress or lack of will be posted in this thread…. Comment’s, flames, suggestions , tips and advice are all welsome! G-man |
