FullTilt Point SnGs

I'm sure most experienced players know about these and just ignore them, but I think there are a few pros to playing point tournaments, so I thought I might throw some info out there.

On FullTilt, many of the big tournaments have satellites with FTP buy-ins. These range from 15FTP super satellites to the big 12,000FTP satellites straight into FTOPS Main Events. I've never played the latter, but I do know that at buy-ins anywhere from 15 to 600 or so, the competition is absolutely dreadful. Since these are technically classified as freerolls, and there's no money per se available, most people play them as if they were straight freerolls. The payout is usually winner-take-all, or close, with first place winning FullTilt Point entry (or real money entry) to a larger tournament or satellite. What seems to work best is to win the small, easy satellites, unregister for the tournament you've won entry to, and collect the buyin. With one win in the 54-man sup. sat. to the FTOPS ME satellite, you can easily turn 50 FTP into 2500.

At the basic level, this doesn't seem profitable or worth the effort at all, but by building a large bankroll of FTPs, you can then put yourself in a position to win a big payout without having risked a cent. I think many players underestimate the value of their FTPs, especially those of us who play relatively low stakes and don't win thousands a day. I've only been playing these SnGs for about a week now, and my then-500 FTPs have become over 7000. I'm starting to look at 600 FTP 9-man SnGs with the winner getting a $26 token, as well as 275 FTP 9-mans with the winner winning a $12 entry to the Daily Double. And with enough FTPs, I plan to freeroll into that free money on a regular basis.

Indeed, that is the way i build(t) my bankroll..., play & win the Face the Ace freerolls, unreg.., play the 15 and 50FTP SnG, unreg, play the 90 or 275FTP to get T$... and so on...
and you can start over and over and over again without having to put a single $ in the site...

IMHO this brings up a very important point. You need to find what works best for you. Some players will do better at certain formats than other players.

Make yourself aware of everything the poker site has to offer and in how those work (can you unregister and get frequent player points, t$, etc.)

Find what works for you because not everything will work for everybody.

I have built up a decent amount of points but am having no success at then using them and winning the 15 and 50 entry games are a lottery! Doesn't matter if i play loose or tight I still lose ! Maybe its just the wrong type of game for me.

Must admit I've been eyeballing those FTP tourneys and wondering whether to give them a whirl or not, I'll throw my hat in to a 50 FTP 54 seater and see what happens.

Nice post. I haven't played all the different FTP satellites but have done the daily dollar freeroll ones. These are 9 man SNGs w/50FTP entries and top 2 get entry(worth 200FTPs) and 3rd gets 50FTPs back. I was making aroung 1k FTPs a day in these easy. You can buyin to the daily dollar for noly 200FTPs but its very easy to win the 50FTP satellite to it. When they had the "record "breaker" satellites I made like 8k in a day. I got close to 13k now and haven't played these lately. I'm thining of using them to buy a 3 month member ship to stoxpoker or cardrunners. Anyways great post and i'll be sure to check out some more of these thanks.

-- oh and one more thing there's no rake for these. 100% pay back and weak competition make this a winning play.

re: FullTilt Point SnGs poker

OK - just completed my first ever 50 FTP SnG.

The play was wild, all ins & crazy bets all around, no opportunity to limp into the flop in early hands as raises and re-raises are virtually guaranteed.

3 hands and field is down to 44, 9 hands down to 34, 17 to 24, 32 to 14, 47 on to top table.

My play has been my usual very conservative style, I know we all say it but the hands have been poor, I've played and won only 2 hands so far to get here.

I make top table with 500 in chips with BB @ 500, I all in hand before my BB with QJs and win 2200 pot with pair of Qs - I'm up to 8th and within doubling distance of being a player in the game.

I'm dealt AQs on my BB, 3 callers, I check, flop of A,5,Q, I all in hoping to double up, 2 fold, 1 caller A4, you guessed it turn 2, river 3, and out I go.

Overall assessment is if you get some decent hands early on, ride the storm around you, play the good holes only or the wild raises will eat you out this can be a good route to increase your FTP balance. I think I'll be going back for more, don't think cashing them in for a baseball cap is quite my style.

Is this the 54 play SNG? I would think you would need lots of FTP to be able to plat these. I wouldnt play them until a had 100 buyins or 5k FTPs. When I said 50FTP satellites I meant the 9man sat. to the daily dollar ones. Top 2 get the prize and 3rd gets the 50FTPs back. You might try a few of these. Same statergy stay tight till you got a good hand and shove it preflop.

For UK players the twice nightly Poker Millions are quite good for boosting your FTP balance, if you qualify more than once during the week you are credited with 200FTP for every time you qualify after the first one, you can't cash your first qualification but generally you'll find you will get at least 2 qualifications per week.

I've got a couple thousand FTP and haven't really thought about using them in the manner you've described. It sounds like the play is as nuts as the daily freerolls or Daily $1 tourneys. Between being a relatively tight and seemingly unlucky player, I don't think my sanity will allow me to go there.

yeah i played the 50FTP daily dollar 9max SnG a few times a couple weeks ago....played 3 and won all 3, as u only need to place in top 2....i got pocket Aces went all in and all but 3 called....and i still won....and didnt even play another hand, just let the others knock each other out.....seems to be a pretty easy way to turn 50FTP into 200FTP!
