Full tilt or Pokerstars for SNGs
Hi, Well I have a pokerstars and fulltilt account, im going to deposit $110 for 20 buy ins at $5.50 sit and goes and hopefully move up limits. Im wondering which site is the best for sit and goes and which has the softest competition. I dont have rakeback on fulltilt but I might try and ask full tilt for rakeback.. Cheers

start, you might be ok. General consensus suggests 40 buyins is probably a little better. The $3 STTs on pokerstars might be ok with that Bankroll. Stars and Fulltilt are much of a muchness personally ive done better on FT than Stars but i just put that down to variance. One thing about FT vs Stars is FT doesnt have antes at 100/200 where as pokerstars does so adjustment in strategies needed there GL. |

20 buy-ins is fine to start out with, if you can redeposit. I started with $100 on Hollywood Poker, and never had to deposit again. However, if this is your only money for poker, I would start at a lower level.
If you are going to play turbos play on Stars. If full or 6 max regular speed, I would play on Full Tilt. |

Poker stars is pretty good for Sit n Goes purely because of the fact that you can FOLD even when you should check.
Also their sit and goes are more varied. |

re: Full tilt or Pokerstars for SNGs
I tend to favour Full Tilt for SnG's at the lower levels, they have less choice of games (no stud, very little razz and stud, no HOSE etc) but far more variations of what there is. i.e. omaha and Hold Em in 6,9,18,27 seat etc.
Once you get to $5 though, both sites are very similar. Stars have a lot of $1 games, then not much else 'till $5. There are a few $3 but the play isn't excellent. Maybe try the $5 double or nothing games, could put an easy 25% on your bankroll once you've played the 20 games. |

Im not too sure about pokerstars as i rarely play their, but i can tell u that the oppostion at $5 SNGs on Full Tilt is extremely weak that by just playing ABC poker u could easily cash in these SNGs 2/3 times (given cold decks and variance etc.)

I've played both. I haven't played on FT for awhile but at the micro levels, ($5 and under) most of the time I found the play at FT totally rediculous. I think too many of them tried to learn by watching T.V. Things I saw were all ins with 6 9s after a raise from UTG and a reraise from the button, then thinking he was right to move all in on a bluff.(when he sucked out, the ends justifies the means kind of players) Just dumb shit like that.
While the play on pokerstars micro isn't much better, most of the players seem to have atleast a better grasp of poker. Not quite so much overly agressive play. (to the point of stupidity) Just my opinion, but I like playing on Stars better, even though I think FT would be more profitable for a decent player. |

I prefer pokerstars because I happen to run better than on FTP. I do well on both but I just enjoy playing on pokerstars more, I don't really like the way some people play on FTP. If I where you i'll stick to the $3.25 SNG's on pokerstars, besides you got rake back on pokerstars why not start a BR on there. I think if you dep. $50 on pokerstars you get $50 for free if you put the code stars50. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU

Full Tilt has a wider variety of SnGs than PS. PS also has alot more sharks at the mid level buyin MTT and SnGs than FullTilt from what i've seen and heard from other people. I would suggest what others have said about starting with a deeper BR.

if you are to deposit thinking like you are , you should atleast (acourding on what ive read on Pokerstrategy etc) always have 30 buyins.
If u can do this i suggest you do .. You will also receive a larger bonus then which isnt bad at all during your "down swings"! In the choice of which poker room id say SnGs definately FT because of their grafic is much more what can i say.. I atleast focus ten times better at FT then stars. And i would also say the opponents are better in Stars considering the ammount. Although if u were to also do some tournaments at the side you should go for pokerstars 100% .. Gaining a good bankroll by SnG is hard ive tried alot of times failed misrebaly i must always do different things such as go CG/tournys. Back to why you should choose pokerstars now , their tournaments is better in all ways. It is ALOT more to choose from and alot more all day long .. Bigger price pools etc etc, The list goes long of what pokerstars can create whit a bigger atmosphere. My opinion // Ludo ![]() |

I personally Like Pokerstars over full tilt poker anyday. I think that would be a good site for buy in's. I wish your luck in building your bankroll.

OP, Stars has a lot more SnG's and they fill quickly no matter what time of day. I suggest Stars for that reason and due to the fact the rake is a little lower. |

My take. I say split your BR in half and deposit on both sites. On PokerStars with your $55 play 6 $5 double or nothing games. Playing 1 every other day. And on Full-Tilt it's your choice, cause they do have alot lower limit games.
For me, I like them both for different reasons, so, I play on both. Both sites are good, and a decent player should make money on both sites. |

If you're planning on playing micro SNGs, FTP with rakeback is waaaaaay better than PS. |

There's another difference in the micro limit sitngos: on full tilt the way in wich the blinds advance is better distributed than on pokerstars. Playing on pokerstars i realized that because i was almost always on all-in situations when there was still many people in the game.
There's 10 min blind, yes but in the higher stages the jump is very high: 100/200(25 ante) 200/400 300/600,400/800 etc. |

On pokerstars the fold button is always an option. So if everyone checked to you, or you are first to act in a pot you can fold whenever you want. On Full Tilt, if it's checked to you or you are first to act. The fold button isn't an option. You can only check or bet. Which you should do, you should never fold when you can see a free card. However, some people will play suited junk. Lets say they have suited hearts, like J2 of hearts or something stupid. They are in early position and limp. They are able to see the flop cheap. Now the flop come 3h Tc Ah. Now they have a flush draw. They check, guy in LP bets, they call, turn brings Qc. Again, they check, guy bets, they call. River brings 6d. They missed and if they check, the guy in LP could be confused and check. Then you would have to show that you called all the way to the river with J2 of hearts. So, on Poker Stars on the river you are first to act, you can fold, just like in a live game, you can fold at any time, doesn't mean it's the right move. On Full tilt, you would have to check and hope the guy in LP bets so you can fold. So when someone folds out of position when they could check, you already know they are playing junk that missed the board or they where chasing a draw that missed. So folding when you can check doesn't really do you any good. Also lets say 2d came on the river instad of the 6d. Now you have bottom pair, you still think you are beat, but lets say you check, and the guy in LP figures you have an A and are going to call, while he was semi bluffing on a straight draw with KJ. Now if you check and he checks, you win the pot. I'm not saying never fold when you can check. But, you should be checking 99.99% of the time instead of folding.
