Full Tilt Poker Academy

Hey Everyone,

So just a few weeks back, Full Tilt Poker brought out their Academy. Which includes lessons from the pros, for those FISHES out there to learn how to play the game ;-)

But they also have some really cool things... such as:

the Sit-N-Learns, you take the lessons and then take the quizzes... if you fall with in the first 1000 in the high scores you get invited to play in a Qualifying Satellite for your chance to win an entry into a $5,000 Freeroll.

They also have the Pro-Challenges... which if you complete you earn points to use in the (Future) Academy store... plus it's a good way to put to use what you learn in the Lessons in the tables.

What do you guys think of the Academy?

I think its pretty good from what I have watched so far. It has good basics and goes into some pretty deep thoughts during hands. The fact they offer all of that info for free is amazing. They actually give you incentives to learn more about poker.

Lots of good reminders there, well put together, and a chance to win prizes by thinking good... all adds up. As a Tilt vet I got grandfathered to Gold entry... Noobs have to build up FTPs to get in tho...

I have a question, does anyone know when the satellite freerolls for the april leaderboards will be?

By the way I like the sessions they show with Nick Schulman and Paul Wasicka. Improves your 6 handed and heads up game a lot.

I like it

I actually like this idea alot.It helps people fill some of their leaks and offers a few good reasons to learn more about the game.I like even more the idea of their leaderboard for the sit-n-learns,gives you a chance to build a BR from nothing and you can't beat that.

Actually good for regs.

Not following the very basic advice offered by the academy. Any decent reg is way ahead of anything presented in the FT academy.

But seeing fishes who try to implement floats and stuff like that without a clue what they're doing is fun...

Haha Belgo. Yeah I definately pay more attention when someone min raises UTG.

The academy itself doesn't really offer much for players at high stakes, but I have found that the pre-flop challenge and the...uhm...well the other new(ish) challenge that deals with preflop game...can both be completed without really trying. I mean its got stuff like "be profitable in 3 cash games" or something like that and its got "open fold a-x".....well I open fold A-x all day long unless i'm on the button so I've accumulated about 9,000 credits by just doing these 2 challenges over and over again 10 times each.

I just found out about the academy. It looks very cool. I really like the way they set up the challenges. Almost like Achievements in a video game. So you really pick up what they're trying to teach you. My question is I did one of the challenges, and it never updated. Does it not count freerolls?

no, it only applies when you play at real money tables, although you are allowed to do it at micro stakes.

The FTPA is a great idea, and well-designed, but unfortunately I don't have a BR on FTP, and I'm usually too busy with SB, or Ultimatebet to try and win any freerolls. Too bad the basic SNL's and other articles are only available to me.

I like the Academy, because of the bonuses you can earn through the challenges. I haven't taken any of the quizzes yet, but it would be nice to play in larger freerolls.

As for the lessons, they are not filled with a lot of information. They are seem to be geared towards the beginner.

Is it possible to download any of the videos from Full Tilt for watching later or converting them to play on ipod etc.

I can download videos from youtube using realplayer but when I tried to download the ones on full tilt using Realplayer it just downloads 2 small files which I cant view.
